Lapped Car Blues Continues for Kerr

MARYVILLE, Tenn.
(Nov. 2)
Once again Tommy Kerr had a strong top five run cut short when he had problems with a lapped car. The incident sent Kerr, who was running fourth at the time, to the rear of the SRRS event at Green Valley Speedway.

Kerr qualified the Blount Motorsports Hoosier Rocket quickest in his group and third over all of the 51 Late Models on hand for the Thursday night event. He was second in his heat that put him in the eighth starting spot for the feature. Running fourth he had problems with a lapped car and the resulting spin put him in the rear of the pack. In the remaining laps he would come back to post a ninth place finish.

“We have had our share of problems with lapped cars this year and the race at Green Valley was more of the same,” said Kerr. “After about the second time you start wondering if it is something you are doing and we have been trying to give the lapped cars plenty of room.”

During the season qualifying has been another problem for Kerr and something that he and the team have continued to work on.

“Qualifying has been one of the areas where we needed to improve. Being first in my qualifying group and third overall in a tough field shows that our qualifying efforts are getting better,” concluded Kerr.

On Wednesday Kerr and the team will head to the Dirt Track at Lowes for the running of the rained out WoO Topless event. Then on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they will take part in the WoO World Finals at the four-tenths-mile clay oval.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Cast Stone, Wine and Spirits Cellar, Insurance Partners, Explosive Specialists and Arnold Trucking.

They race a GW Performance Rocket chassis with power from Custom Race Engines, shocks from Öhlins, chassis and suspension components from TWM, seats from Butlerbilt and tires from Hoosier Racing Tires.
