Haven't we been down this road before?

Let's see, a few years ago, STS had a FULL schedule of committed touring series, but never got the track.

Just last year we had a guy that had people practicing there until Bruton's team found out about it. And shut it down quickly.

I'll believe this when I see a press release from Speedway Motors saying Wilkesboro will be leased to USAR for a race and will be back in business.

For the people of Wilkes County, I hope it's true.

The STS people just had a pipe dream, while their intentions were good, they had no money to back anything they were trying to do. The guy earlier this year, Charles Collins, was a flat-out crook. I had dealings with him on a daily basis, and was there for all the testing done. I knew it was a sham the first 30 seconds I met the guy, but really wanted to know how he got in there in the first place. That was shut down quickly, as Bruton and his attorney's contacted me and I really can't talk about the rest, I can just say I still don't know how that guy got in there. His girlfriend still sends me death threats weekly for exposing him, all the while he still sits in jail. This new group is a lot different, they are actual people that are known and are very distinguished people in the racing world. And the fact that the Pro Cup people have already scheduled a date says a lot, they are not some fly-by-night race series. I will dig into this during the week to find out the real deal going on.

As I recall, STS had close to $9M in financial support, but Bruton's group would not come off of a $16M price tag.

They also had a schedule with very reputable sanctions. I think USAR may have been one of them. I do remember USAC, ASA, SAS, ISMA, and HOSS.

If you suddenly disappear, we'll know what happened.

They didn't have any money at all, not a dime. I know someone who was part of that group, and they had some investors who "said" they would do some backing, but nothing was ever close to being set, nothing like we were all reading. And some of those series have told me they didn't set any date for thier series to be there, only an "interest" when those people got things finalized. Have read now where this is a 3 year lease deal with an option to buy, which makes me worry a little. Really interested after finding that out as to what these peoples intentions are. Can't see putting the necessary repairs there for a 3 year lease.

And tearing it up to be dirt would be the last thing they need to do, don't think that one is gonna happen.

Hey, I am a BIG NWR ashpalt fan. DOn't need dirt there when you have Wytheville/311/ and Charlotte. I haven't been to see asphalt in 5 years, but I would go back there....bring on the Modifieds!

Are you serious? Why would you make this historic track dirt?

For the first time I think NW has something legit, just hope the people get out and support it when it happens. Hopefully RTM or another tour will join and have several races!

sorry didn't mean to step on anyones toes! I don't think it should be dirt but if thats what it takes to get racing there then bring it on!!
