FASTRAK help for the 602's????

FASTRAK finally had a suggestion from one of our teams, one that acutally runs a 604 by the way, that might actually be something we could consider implementing that would help the teams with 602's.

The dilema: 602 2250lbs- 604 2400lbs is the current weight rule.

We are told you can't take more weight off the 602's. Can't get the percentages. You can put more weight on the 604'2. Some people having to put on 200 lbs now.

Question: Give the 602 a 8 inch engine set back versus the current 6 inch. Keep the 604 at 6 inches.

Your thoughts?

no way. to expensive for the ones that are already racing and also would this be series rule change and if so who's. If we would chose to race at different tracks with crate rules, there's not a track that runs a set back like that.

That's what i've been hollering for 2 years, it's easy to do, put the engine plate behind the
mounts with a 1" spacer and use set back motor mounts in front, you may have to drill a hole
in 'em, and a 2 " shorter drive shaft and some teams wont have to do that....ball spline...
longer fan spacer or attach a piece to your fan shroud, and shorten the throttle linkage....
Of course you'd have that problem race chaser said, about other track rules........NDRA and
such. I don't see it much of a problem......ask them and see I'd bet they'd all say OK.....
how many 602's out there running now anyways a couple of hand fulls???.then
you may have more teams starting because of the lower price of the engine...it would go a
long way in helping the lonely 602 especally drivers that weight over 200 lbs.......I'd say the
most expence you'd incure would be $150 unless you have a carbon fiber drive shaft...I
don't have a crate I can't afford one but I do feel for the 602 guys.....and of corase If you
had a 602 you would'nt have to change it.,It would still be legal...so it would be no expence..
for it would be an allowed set back not a manatory one...........
