Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
10/24:: ALTAMAHAW, NC -- Billy Morris returned to the RTM tour this weekend in winning fashion by beating Ronnie Davis and AJ Winstead to the line for his first RTM victory of the season.
The tour now rolls into Orange County Speedway for its season finale with a lot of drama and scenarios beginning to unfold. Mathematically, the top 5 in points all have a chance to win the championship, and with the finale being a double-points race, anything is possible. Results: 1. #55x Billy Morris 2. #14 Ronnie Davis 3. #99 AJ Winstead 4. #21 Joe Scarbrough 5. #77 Hunter Slayton 6. #12 Robert Conner 7. #71 Steve Denning 8. #12y Jimmy Humblet 9. #1 Edward Ditges 10. #2x Larry Penny 11. #4 Thomas Stinson 12. #42 Chris Hoylman Pole: #14 Ronnie Davis |

Re: Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
Congrats to Billy, Keith, Kenny and crew you picked up right where you left off after winning the '09 SSS points champiponship. Great win especially after starting last, looks like it doesn't matter if you run the #20 or the #55...way to go guys.

Re: Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
If I remember correctly wasn't Morris banned from RTM after an incident in last year's race at Ace?

Re: Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
yeah he was banned but that was when Jerry Sink was running the tour to me just one of his crazy decisions. I mean Billy drove rough that last race last year but comon a lifetime suspension for that???????? The guy showed at ace why he deserved a second chance started last and drove clean through the field.

Jerry gave him a lifetime ban, crazy in how many racing series do you see lifetime bans??? Sure he was on probation but that should lead to having sit out a few races not a lifetime. If racing went around and handed out lifetime bans for all of the drivers who cause wrecks etc. then there wouldnt be a whole lot of racing going on. Billy showed by starting last and coming through the field what kind of driver he is beside he was the sss champion. |

Re: Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
Morris has had a few high-profile incidents over the last few seasons with the RTM tour, in 2007 at the second race of the season at Southern National, he intentionally punted the #91 car of Dean Slappey in the opening laps, Kirk Wilson, the then president DQ'd him for the infraction and suspended him for the rest of the year.
...: Local Race Chat In 2008, Morris was allowed to return, actually at the final race of the 2007 season at Concord which he won, and he did rather well, winning the season opener at Hickory that year. At Ace later that year, he blatantly took out the leader, Aubrey Thurston, causing a pileup which took out more than half of the field. He had more than a car-width between him and the #21 car and could have easily made a clean pass but instead opted to drive dirty. He was later DQ'd after reviewing tapes from in-car cameras and discussions with officials, and because of his season-long suspension the previous year, Jerry and myself came to the conclusion that he had no reason to be running with the tour if he was going to drive dangerously and damaging thousands of dollars in cars and possibly putting people's lives at stake. Richard Peters, new president decided to reinstate Morris to give him a second chance, which seems to have gone over alright with the teams and officials with no backlash. RTM welcomes any and all competitors to race with us, but they need to race smart and safe as much as possible or else they don't need to be running with the tour. |

Doesn't take a genius to recognize based on car counts they could use a winning driver.

Re: Billy Morris Victorious at Ace
What is out there to compare them to? Whelen southern modified tour had 13 cars at last race at caraway, same at Mrytle beach on labor day weekend. RTM had 25 cars at Sobo not too shabby for this enconomy and being imca type modifieds, but it was good to have a race with Billy Morris,Thomas Stinson,AJ Winstead etc. in it!

Everyone has his or her own views! I have never seen someone blatantly take out the leader, Aubrey Thurston and not put a scratch on the front bumper but have the entire left quarter ripped off! U fell to mention that Billy also came from the back after all that DIRTY DRIVIN to take the checkered flag 1st, presented the trophy, and congrats by Jerry Sink. If it was such a dangerous situation then y wasn't he black flag to ensure the safety of all other drivers. Aubrey came over and congrats Billy on the win and said it was a racin deal. Sounds to me like u guys are letting some others control u. BTW Billy Morris was ur 2009 Southside Speedway Points Champion!!!!
