UPDATE 8/24/11: Bill Hendren Memorial race on September 16th at Cleveland County Speedway, has gone from $3,000 to win to $4,000 to win!!

At this time we are diligently working to make this a spectacular event for both drivers and race fans alike. It is our intent to honor the memory of one of the most giving people in the racing industry, by creating a unique event that will keep race fans on the edge of their seat until the final checkered flag falls, and by rewarding the racers who participate like no other race has before.

Please stay tuned for new announcements in the coming day's, as the purse will be growing, contingency awards and sponsors will be announced, and the racing format will be finalized. This event started today as a $2,000.00 to win event, but has already increased to a $4,000.00 to win event.

Bill Hendren Memorial Race - UPDATE 8/25/11

At this time I've chosen to cap this race at $4,000.00 to win, and we are currently working to increase the race purse from 2nd-24th positions, with added prize money to start the race. We are also in the process of working on a purse for a "non-qualifiers" for those who miss out on being in the top 24 main event cars.

Tentatively, waiting on final approval from myself, Cleveland County Speedway, and Stan Lester....we will all get together and go over the race format, and announce the final format in the coming week. We are looking to structure the memorial race as follows....

1) All rules for this race will be FASTRAK rules.
2) All FASTRAK late models will take 2 laps to qualify. (possibly combining both laps to give your final qualifying time)
3) The top 10 cars will be locked into the feature, all other cars run heat races to determine 11th-22nd place on the starting grid. Provisional starting positions will be by the FASTRAK rule book.
4) The top 4 qualifiers will redraw for a starting position in a 4 lap dash for cash, that will pay $400 for 1st, $300 for 2nd, $200 for 3rd, and $100 for 4th.
5) There will be a non qualifiers race provided I can find sponsorship (this will be announced when I know)
6) 40 lap main event
7) At the conclusion of the evenings racing events, there will be contingency awards for all 24 main even starters. This will be a random drawing at the FASTRAK trailer. Each of the 24 drivers will draw a numbered pill that will correspond to a numbered envelope. Contingency awards will be everything from gift certificates for product, to actual product the we will have at the track. We will announce a full list of all donated certificates and product sometime next week as we begin to the promote this race, and the sponsors that have been so generous. I am also working hard to make sure that every driver who does not make the main event, will also leave with some type of contingency award.
8) Mike Duvall will be on hand with his 2 seat late model, and will be giving rides to 10 lucky race fans. There will be a drawing of ticket stubs, where 10 numbers will be pulled, giving 10 race fans the chance to ride with a legend!
9) There will also be random drawings throughout the evening for free Bill Hendren Memorial t-shirts.
10) Our goal for this event is to make sure that each racer, and each fan in the stands has the best experience possible, and will depart the track that night, knowing they have been truly entertained and have been a part of something special.
