Columbus, Mississippi (10/14/08) - Magnolia Motor Speedway, “The South’s Premier Dirt Track,” along with Coors Light, The Columbus Visitors Bureau, and the Columbus Packet will be presenting the 5th Annual Cotton Pickin 100 this Thursday – Saturday, October 16th-18th.
The 5th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 is highlighted by a 100 lap, $15,000 To Win/$1,000 To Start Super Late Model event, a $2,000 to win Late Model Stock Vs. Crate Late Model event, a $2,500 to win Open Wheel Modified event, and a $1,000 to win Street Stock event.
With well over 200 cars expected, and a host of out of town drivers such as Billy Moyer, Wendell Wallace, Chris Wall, and many more drivers scheduled to compete, the action will be spectacular. Regular competitors Dane Dacus (Super Late Model) Shay Knight (Open Wheel Modified), Eddie Rickman, Mark Stokes, T.K. King (Late Model Stocks/Crate) and Tony Silvestri (Street Stock) have already qualified for their respective feature events through a special program started this year that rewarded any driver, who won two or more feature events during the regular season, a guaranteed starting spot in the marquee event of the year.
In addition to the hot racing action on the track, there will be several family-fun things to do around the state-of-the-art facility during the course of the weekend including Jumpin G’s Inflatables for all the kids to enjoy, an Elvis Impersonator, the annual “Fish Fry” on Saturday, the “Ring of Fire” fireworks, and Country Music legend David Frissell will be on hand as the “Grand Marshall”.
Action at Magnolia Motor Speedway will start with an open practice session on Thursday, October 16th. Free admission to the Grand Stands, Pit Admission is $15.00.
Friday, October 17th will feature hot laps, time trials, and heat races. General Admission is $20 for adults with kids 10 and under free. Pit Admission is $30.
Saturday, October 18th will consist of B-Mains followed by the Feature Events. General Admission for adults is $25.00 with children 10 and under free. Pit admission is $35.00.
The grandstands open at 4:00pm each day. Lawn chairs are recommended, and small coolers are welcome. No outside alcohol is allowed to be brought in at any time.
