Bobby,back when i lived in Gastonia N.C., as a 12 yr. kid, My first dirt track visits were at a track named Robinwood Speedway. This would be back in the 60's and therefore it is sure nuff a ghost track..!!! As stated,it was in Gastonia NC. Humpy Wheeler ran the old track at one time back then. There was also another track in Gastonia,called Carolina Speedway,but it is not the same. I think Carolina is still running. I remember the names of Larry Wallace,Bryant Wallace,Doug and Bob Cooper,Lefty Bolton,Ervin Carpenter,etc. No,i can't remember a lot of things i did at 12 years old,but i remember going to the races...!!!!!!

Carolina is still operating and doing quite well. There has a couple of Carolina Clash races this year, the 1st being the Skyler Trull Memorial. Where was Robinwood at?

If i can figure out where Sanford was located I might be able to find an old aerial of it. NCDOT flys the state hwys. every few years and has new aerials taken. They are pretty good resolution. Good enough to pull survey contours off of.

Sadly no. If I remember correctly they are only of the State highways and a 1/4m on each side. Each local office has a physical copy and Raliegh has archives. If you are doing work for DOT you can get current stuff of your project area. I used to be a party chief.

Sanford Was A couple of miles back towards camarom From 15-501 and hwy 1 intersection. may not be there since #1 was 4 laned .Check for go kart track couple mile out camoron on right toward Sanford

I think I found it. 3.95m soutn of Tramway Rd. On the east side of Hwy1. Or 1.7m nothe of the US1 and Jerrerson Davis Hwy intersection.
