AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY BENEFIT NIGHT COMING TO MERCER RACEWAY PARK JUNE 21; CANCER SURVIVORS ADMITTED FREE

Mercer, PA…Mercer Raceway Park has joined with the Mercer County Relay for Life to host “Racing for a Cure” – An American Cancer Society Benefit Event, which will be held on Saturday, June 21 at Mercer Raceway Park in conjunction with a full night of auto racing.
On this night all cancer survivors will be admitted free and those participants of the Mercer County Relay for Life will receive discounted admissions with a portion of those proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
The drivers in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Tire Express Modifieds, McElwain Motors FASTRAK Late Models, Big Daddy’s Speed Center Mod Lites, and the M&D Paving Mini Stocks will have the opportunity to “Race for a Cure”.
Each race car will carry a $50 sponsorship for someone to purchase an “In Memory of” or “Support of” someone who has been touched by cancer. Ten-dollar associate sponsorships will fall under the main sponsorship for anyone who may also want to be associated with the car or may have known or knows the person you are racing for.
The race events will also carry sponsorships; each division will have a minimum of two heat races and one feature event available; heats for $50 and the features for $100. Individual car sponsorships will be available to each respective driver initially until May 15. After that they will offered to the general public in hopes that the majority of the cars can be sponsored.
Once car sponsorships are reserved, drivers can begin selling the $10 sponsorships. Fans can purchase a $10 sponsorship in conjunction with a car they would like to be affiliated with. Fun and exciting incentive programs will be offered to drive sponsorship sales with details to be released at a later date.
The sale of these sponsorships will be promoted beginning immediately and continue up to the June 21 event. Once purchased, they will be put on our website via a special link, announced each and every race night, displayed on a billboard around June that will be located in our midway areas, and printed on a special handout that will be available at the actual event.
“This concept has the potential to raise substantial dollars to make a difference in the fight against cancer, while at the same time allow us to remember and support those we love who have been touched by cancer,” explained 10th year owner Vicki Emig. “We are looking forward and know that the racing community will join together to make this event a huge success.”
