In early January of 2006, a television/movie company named JVI Productions decided it was time for stock car racing to enter the world of reality television. The original basis for the show "Racin' For A Livin" was to take what they consider rookie and unknown Race Car drivers from all across the country, and pit them against each other for a shot at a 2007 contract to race in the NASCAR Busch Grand National division to prove him or her self. This is every racer's dream. The TV show Racin' For A Livin' originally picked 50 drivers out of thousands of applicants to be voted upon by fans online at www.RacinForALivin.com. The producer decided 50 wasn't enough, and began to pick 21 "Rookie Wildcard" positions to also be voted upon.
One such driver that has secured a Wildcard spot is Eric McClure, a 21 year old young man from Madison, Alabama who has always had high hopes of being a stock car racing star. Now, he just may have that chance. Eric is a circle track racer himself, and began at the age of 14 locally. He's raced at different asphalt and dirt tracks in Alabama and Tennessee in Hobby Stocks, Super Stocks, Bomber Cars and Open-Wheel modifieds. Now he has the chance of a lifetime.
Online voting will now determine who of the 71 drivers will make it to the next step. Voting for the top 50 drivers has been underway since March and lasts until July 31st. Voting for the "Rookie Wildcard" group lasts from July 1st through July 31st and the TOP 5 of this group will move on to the next step with the top 15 from the original 50 drivers. The next step is on and off track training and testing, and from there everyone will be narrowed down to 12 drivers by the show's veteran NASCAR driver judge panel to actually be on the TV show and have a shot at the NASCAR ride next year. Even if Eric isn't your pick, there are many other young drivers from all over the country out there that you may want to check out, and this too could be their only shot. Help to make "Racin' For A Livin" a huge success!
