The roll of thunder was in the air as the rain and storms threaten Wayne County, but the roll of the Super Late Models thunder of the mighty engines prevailed. Once again Wayne County Speedway opened its gates to the fast and furious providing some totally awesome racing for all to see. Join us again next Friday night June 30th for more of the same great racing action. “Catch us if you can”.

SUPER LATE MODELS
Capturing the poll position was Delaware’s pride Ricky Whaley. As the green flag fell Whaley claimed the number one hot seat and dared anyone to get it. However Benson’s Roger Lucas and Franklinton’s “Candyman” Derick Francis were in the same mind frame of taking home the checkered flag. On the first lap into turn four half the field joined together to make that turn , well it didn’t happen we had cars all over the track. Thanks to the great driving skills of the Late Model drivers and the hardwork of track officials we had it cleaned up quickly and went back to green flag racing with only one of the 30 laps complete and most of the cars back on the track. The top three escaped the pile up. On the restart Whaley once again seized the number one spot and took control of the lead. There was a party going on down the line with positions swapping every lap. Autryville’s Jeffery Tyndall and Princeton’s Junior Pierce maneuvered their way up to the front just in time to make it in the top five for the night. As the checkered flag fell it was Ricky Whaley that captured his first ever victory at WCS. Lucas held on strong for his second place win. Tyndall and Pierce held on for the third and fourth place wins. Francis rounded out the top five wins.

SPORTSMAN
Bailey’s Tator Liles captured the pole and the victory of the 20 lap Sportsman feature race at WCS. At the drop of the green Liles put his machine in the wind and never looked back. There was a battle for the top three spots but Liles prevailed and landed his fourth victory of the season. Brad Thiede newcomer for the 2006 season made a very impressive second place win. Frank Munn of Roanoke Rapids settled for the third place win, while Danny Owens of Youngsville and Mark McDaniels of Selma finished fourth and fifth respectively.

THUNDER AND LIGHTING
Capturing the pole for the 20-lap Thunder & Lighting feature race was Luke Owens of Youngsville. Owens was able to capture the lead as well at the drop of the green. Hardcharging Buddy Isles Sr. suffered some damage in the first caution that created a costly pitting for the night. However it was Jerry McKeel Jr. of Middlesex that took charge of the laps to make his way to the front. As the checkered flag unfurled it was Owens to the finish to land his first victory of the season at WCS. McKeel settled for the second place win. Lynn Coombs of LaGrange finished third, and newcomer Dan Blaydock and Greg Munn of Roanoke Rapids rounded out the top five wins.

ALLSTAR V-8
It was Littleton’s pride Buddy Isles Jr. that captured the poll and the victory for the 15-lap AS V-8 feature race. Isles was able to hold off the hard charging efforts of Roanoke Rapid’s Ricky Dickens as he landed his third victory of the season at WCS. Dickens came in a close second place win. Newcomer Michael Wells finished third. Selma’s “Young Gun” Dustin Mitchell finished fourth while Jerry McKeel Sr of Middlesex finished fifth respectively.

SUPER STOCK 4Cylindes
William Vaughn of Skippers Virginia and Jim ONeal of Spring Hope were declared the first and second place winners of the shortened SS4-cyl race Friday night.

Please stay safe and sound and come back to see us go round and round with the speed of lighting and the sound of thunder at “The Greatest show on Dirt” Wayne County Speedway.

This Is The #56dirtfanchick, I Was Just Wondering Why Eddie Told Us When The Race Was Over That All The Ss4 Class Was Disq. And Now He Has Changed His Story To The 12 Car As The Win And The 4 Car Second. Brandon Pulled His Car Off The Track Before The Race Was Over, So He Wouldnt Have 2 Broke Cars, No One Told Him He Was Disq.
