Does anyone know what happened Friday night at Ace?
I thought Causey won, someone called me later and said
that Cook won the Late Model race. I had to leave just
as the race finished. :smashfreakB:

GARY CAUSEY TAKES THE CHECKERED FLAG
BUT RODNEY COOK WINS THE RACE IN THE BUDWEISER 100

Altamahaw, North Carolina…Gary “Mr. Excitement” Causey took the checkered flag in the Budweiser 100 Friday night, June 16 at Ace Speedway but Rodney Cook was awarded his 4th win of the season when Causey was placed at the rear of the field after he refused to swap his engine per the track’s rules. The racing on the speedway was torrid on USG Sheetrock/Mosaic Tile Night as Causey came from the rear of the 15 car field twice to snare his apparent third win of the season in the Dick Shirley Late Model Stock Car Division. Causey started in tenth spot in the race and took the lead for a second time late in the race from Cook. Causey took the checkered flag by 3 car lengths over Cook. Track officials asked Causey to swap his motor with the brand new one owned by the speedway. He refused, and was placed at the rear of the field. The drivers in the Dick Shirley Chevrolet Late Model Division use the GM and Ford production assembly line motors that are sealed with no modifications permitted. The track monitors the horsepower of these motors to make sure that they are not tampered with and uses an engine swap option as a method of enforcing it’s no tampering regulations.
