Whats the deal with the bomber rules? the winner of saturdays race was told he can not bring his car back to harpers without a rollcage, the rules state that a rollcage is optional. Are they going to statrt making rules up as they go along? or stick with what is on their website?

I built my car according to the rules on THEIR web site and was going to race for the FIRST time yesterday at practice but was told I could not! It took me more than a MONTH to get the money to build my car to race at HARPERS! They will not be getting any more of MY money!!

What's to discuss? I tried talking to them last night and the white haired guy did not seem to care, he just turned and walked away! Don't they understand not everyone is made of money? It took me a MONTH or more to just scrape by to build my car and TRY to have some fun at my local track.Jobs are very hard to come by and pay is extremely low in Henderson and I'm one of the lucky ones to HAVE a job! As it is my wife and kids can not come see me IF I could have raced,it would cost us too much to get in.

The problem with this track, and many other tracks also, is that they start off with a set of rules, in most cases, late so builders are behind to start with, then, cars are built to those rules and then changes are made later on.
Most bombers, or junkyard class car owners are just starting out in racing and have limited funds and or shop facilities to build a more expencive race car. not everyone has access to a welder and so on.
If they are going to come up with a rollbar requirment, they need to set minimum standards for a rollbar, you dont want someone using swing set pipe, or for that matter PVC pipe because it does'nt SAY you cant!.Having a poorly designed and built rollcage could only cause problems because the driver may have a false sense of security, only to have a car drive thru the drivers door, or the car roll and the cage not being strong enough, or secured properly to the frame and collapse.
All in all, in my opinion, and I have raced for many, many years, and started off in the mid seventies in a division where rollbars were optional, they should have left well enough alone, driving a bomber at harpers is no worse than driving to Raleigh at rush hour, you take the same chance of getting hurt.

bring it on to county line if they wont let you run it at harpers.
