What I can't figure is why would you race at Harpers when Clary's is having a $600.00 to win SS-4? They *****ed and whined about wanting it, got it and did not even come..:smashfreakB:

It is kinda like being in high school again, always some drama going on. I don't think you can ever please them. I know it isn't all of the class, just the ones that are always up here complaining about something making the rest of the class look like they are idiots.

Most of the cars I saw were from this general area. I personally dont have a vehicle to tow effectively any long distance at all. My pull is less than a mile here. Even with 6 cars in the ss4 class, 1st place paid $400. That isnt too shabby in my book. The program ran very smoothly and we had a great time.

That is pretty good, but how long will it take the Harpers to see that you will not be able to run against Clary's ......It will only make both tracks lose money. But I guess if they like paying to watch other people race that is there perogative........We did it for a few weeks........

David wasn't suppose to slay the giant, either.

Why not back off and give the Harpers a chance. I for one, am kind of sick of your pessimistic posts concerning Harpers. Racers will choose where they want to race and the choice is usually based on more factors than "pay-out". After all, if it was just about the money, we wouldn't be racing dirt track, would we?

I think Charlie would know a little about this matter since he went head to head with Clarys and see what happened there. My opinion the Hansens and Staff was the best thing that ever happend to Kings.

Why go to Clary's when we can go 5-10 minutes down the road and be home before 11:00 especially with gas prices are so high, it is well worth it. Hey if we would have known Clary's had not started racing until 2 hours after we were finished we could have went there too.

Clarys has SLM, Harpers doesn't!

No offense, but history has a tendency to repeat itself...........Kings/Harpers has had 4 different owners with the same end result. I do not know the facts as to why it did not work for the other 3 owners, but we could not get it to turn a profit.

We had very few if any complaints from anyone, drivers or fans. So, I know it was not because we did not know how to run a race track. (If you dont believe me ask Marcia & J C or maybe Dan the old owner of FMSP, or maybe anybody that raced with us at either track(with the exception of a few...the ones you could never please...they are at every track.))
The track surface was not that great, but we made it better than it was. (With the help of Rusty Kelly and Lance Ennis). We upgraded the facility, lighting, bleachers, speakers, saftey features so on and so on. (This with the help of to many people to name.) So, I dont think it was because the race track and facility was in that bad of shape. (although it could use alot more clay and some reconfiguring, more lighting, better sound,etc....)
We tried Friday & Saturday night racing, so it was not because we raced on this night or that night.
Not to mention our payout and our prices for admission were more than fair. Shoot even the food in the concession stand was good and reasonable.

THE ONLY FACTOR'S THAT I CAN THINK OF THAT MAKES HARPERS/KINGS FAIL IS THE LOCATION........LOCATION.........LOCATION.........& ECONOMY.......ECONOMY...........ECONOMY.......!!!! !!!!

I wish the Harpers best of luck, but sometimes you have to have some REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS! With there payout and just 24 cars I bet they lost somewhere between $2500.00 to $5000.00. I know this because we have been there and done that, with more cars then they had, and still lost at least that much before.

I have no money invested anywhere, but Harpers running against Clary's instead of trying to work with them is a huge mistake. The crowd from over that way is going to be loyal to Clary's, and unfortunatly Henderson does not have enough race cars to support that track.

All I can say is good luck to ALL OF THE RACE TRACKS but I can tell you that I have spoke to 4 different owners of 4 different tracks and everyone of them are struggling to make ANY money.

I think it will benifit Harpers to find a good Fri night race program and stick with it. Maybe even try to team up with Clary's.. With things not looking so good for Wayne County it may be the best answer we have for Friday night racing, with no other tracks in the area running on fri nights, I see no reason why it should not be attemted anyway.. :wings_rofl:

Amen to that RJ. :05Cool: I've made that suggestion, as have other people. They have a chance making it running a steady Friday night schedule (especially if WCS closes, not that I'm rooting for that) but very little chance if they continue on Saturdays - IMHO. The Friday night that they ran and I was there the car count wasn't great, but it was more than 24 and that race date was pretty much announced at the last moment, plus WCS ran that night.

If I am not mistaken Clarys was suposed to be off this past week. Harpers set thier schedual accordingly and then Clarys decided to run and pay more money in the SS4 class.
Forgive me if I am wrong but I don't seem to be the Harpers changing thier schedual.

On Clarys site, it says.."Schedule subject to change" Clarys had almost as many late models as Harpers had cars. I noticed no Sportsman winner for Harpers!

Well I don't believe Harper's needs to rearrange their schedule just because Clary's changes their schedule. Harper's is a nice place to go without all the drinking and foul language. Don't get me wrong I like Clary's and it is a great place to go to watch and race but don't bash our local race track. You have to remember they are just learning and so far I have no complaints. The drivers get paid a decent amount and the track has been in really good shape. I am sure we will be back at Clary's some but for right now we need to support our local track.
