NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN RACERS INVADE CAROLINA CLASH RACING SERIES EVENT AT CLARYS SPEEDWAY FOR MAY 26 & 27 DOUBLEHEADER
$5,000 AWAITS WINNER ON BOTH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS AT TRACK KNOWN AS THE 'RING OF FIRE'
(Fayetteville, N.C. - May 22, 2006) Two nights of action packed dirt late model racing awaits fans near the North Carolina, Virginia border this weekend when the Carolina Clash Racing Series makes camp at Clarys Speedway in Brinkleyville, NC. The special short track stock car event will see drivers from both north and south of the Mason-Dixon Line clash with two separate 50 lap feature events each paying $5,000 to the winner of Friday and Saturday nights' racing action.
Entering this weekend the Carolina Clash Series defending back-to-back tour champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, NC leads the way in the 2006 title chase with Noel Tucker (Mount Airy, NC), veteran ace Mike Duvall (Cowpens, SC), Larry Blankenship (Mooresville, NC) and Jeff Smith (Kings Mountain, NC) and David Smith (Inman, SC) all engaged in a furious battle for positions in the top-six of the championship chase. Deano Long (Saluda, SC), former NASCAR Cup warrior Jack Pennington (Winston, GA), leading rookie of the year candidate G. R. Smith (Folsom, NJ) and Benji Cole (Canon, GA) are also positioned in the tour's top-ten. Pennington has already registered a trio of Carolina Clash wins in 2006 making him the only driver on the tour this year with more than one victory. Ricky Weeks, Jeff Smith, Petey Ivey, Noel Tucker, Benji Cole each have one Clash win in this year's action.
As the Carolina Clash regulars prepare to roar into action at Clarys Speedway, each of them realize that a strong field of interlopers will be headed to the track known as 'The Ring of Fire' for the pair of $5,000 to win main events. A trio of hotshoes from the eastern seaboard in Delaware will be on hand to try and run off with the loot as Kenny and Mark Pettyjohn will be on hand along with Ricky Elliot to battle for the cash. Numerous drivers from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania are expected to travel to Clarys Speedway for this weekends' two nights of Carolina Clash Racing Series action.
Other series regulars will be looking to find their way to victory lane this weekend including Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin who is looking to avenge a race he felt was taken from his grip two weeks ago in Clash action. Danny Breuer, Petey Ivey, Scott Shirey, Clint Elkins, Royce Bray, David Dick, Doug Sanders, Furman Parton, Jeff Cooke, Billy Hicks and a list of many more talented competitors should make this weekend's action at Clarys Speedway even more competitive at the testy racing oval.
