BULLS GAP, Tenn. – With severe thunderstorms ovenight Friday producing heavy rainfall, which continued as a light drizzle early Saturday morning, after Volunteer Speedway owner Joe Loven arrived at the track to survey the grounds a decision was made at 11:30 a.m. to cancel the racing program for Saturday, May 20. Next week the racing action moves to Friday, May 26.
A six division racing program consisting of "Gateway Ford" ASA Super Late Model, "Ramey Ford" Limited (Crate) Late Model, "Lawson Chevrolet" Open Wheel Modified, "Bachman Barnard" Hobby Stock, Mini Stock and "Renegade" Front Wheel Drives is scheduled Friday, May 26 at Volunteer Speedway. The Mini Stocks will compete in a $500-to-win feature.
The pit gate will open Friday at 4 p.m. and the grandstand gate opens at 5 p.m. Hotlaps are “tentatively” set to begin at 6:45 p.m., followed by qualifying at 7:45 p.m., with feature racing getting the green flag “approximately” at 8:45 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $8, and $2 for children 6-12, with 5-and-under admitted free. Pit passes and backside tier-parking is $20. Those who were present for the May 13 night of racing which got rained-out, your grandstand ticket stub or pit armband must be redeemed for admission on Friday, May 26.
