Wayne County Speedway hosted the first of seven SUPER 7 LATE MODEL SERIES races for the 2006 racing season. It was totally awesome , drivers came from all parts of the state and the nation to be a part of the fast and furious racing action on the 1/3 mile hi-banked clay oval. Mother nature was good to Wayne County this week Thursday night provided a slow soaking rain and combined with the efforts of the track maintance the surface was just perfect for the race. History was once again made as Rick Whaley out of Millsboro Delaware set a track record of 13:20 seconds for the fastest lap of the night. With that performance he collected an additional $200 to make his take home $$ a little sweeter for the effort, THANKS to our sponsors for the continued support. Next week all divisions in action “CATCH US IF YOU CAN”.

SUPER 7 LATE MODELS
Starting from the pole was Millsboro's Rick Whaley, breaking the track record with a

13:20 qualyfing lap and setting the pace for one action packed race. At the drop of the green Whaley put his machine in the wind taking all turns on two wheels . He felt sure he had the big check to take back to Delaware but here comes “THE MAN” Ray Tucker. Tucker shot out front like a cannon and said HE”S BACK. However The number one hot seat was still up for grabs as Mississippi's Anthony “Comacausy” Rushing stuck his nose right in the middle of Whaley and Tucker's business. It was definitely on from there. Tucker was able to pull away up front just enough to keep his space up front where it counts and landed his first victory of the season in the SUPER 7 LATE MODEL series and second at WCS.. Rushing was a very close contender for his second place win. Whaley settled for third after trying real hard to take home the complete package. Benson's pride Roger Lucas was able to stay up close and land a good fourth place win, while Henderson's Terry Cardwell finished fifth.

SPORTSMAN
Capturing the pole and the lead at the drop of the green was Virginia's Mike Williams. Williams shot out front like a man on a mission as he took complete control of the lead in the 20 lap Sportsman feature race. However Bailey's Tator Liles had another plan in mind. , he wanted the same spot out front before it got cold. Liles took over the lead and held it strong to claim his second feature win for the season at WCS. Newcomers to the track, Mike Cox and Ryan Foran of Grassy Creek gave Liles a run for the money but settled for a second and third place win. “BIG” Mark McDaniel's of Selma finished fourth. Williams made a fiery fifth place win.

THUNDER and LIGHTING
Staring from the pole was last race week's winner Luke Owens. Owens put some distance up front but the “FLYING” number 11 of Buddy Isles Sr. of Littleton covered that ground and took over the lead . Isles and Owens battled it out for the top spot but Isles kept his pace and landed his second victory of the season. Owens held on for a strong second place win. Bailey's Jerry McKeel Jr. finished third. While Lynn Combs of Lagrange finished fourth.

ALL STAR 8's
Newcomer to the track made a very impressive first race night impression, Ricky Dickens of Henderson captured the pole and the victory of the 15-lap ALL Star 8 feature race. Two time winner Buddy Isles Jr. did not make it easy for Dickens but had to settle for the second place win. Dustin Mitchell was as close as could be for his third place win and Jerry Me Keel Sr. of Middlesex finished fourth.

SUPER STOCK 4-Cylinders
Staring from the pole was Jason Horne , Horne took complete control of the lead at the drop of the green and held it strong until the final lap and the checkered flag fell. Horne landed his first win of the season at WCS. Victor May was a strong contender but never could get past the Horne machine and took home a second place win. Newcomer to the track from Charlotte Tee Kemp settled for third while Willaim Vaughn of Skippers Virginia and Jin O'Neal of Spring Hope finished fourth and fifth respectively.
