Mother Nature came in and took over on lap 3 of the Open Wheel Modified race. We got in the FASTRAK Hotlaps, Qualifying, Fast 6 Dash Heat Race, and the two Heat Races. The only race for the Wythe Regulars that got completed was the Super Street. The top 3 finishers was Brian Coake #5 (2 in a row), Jimmy Tate #6 (led the most laps), Keith Griffitts # 40. Boy it was a good race too. Jimmy Tate led almost the whole race when Brian Coake did a sling shot move off of turn 4 and they drag raced down the front stretch and Coake came out the winner. The FASTRAK race has been postponed until next Saturday 05/20/2006.

What was the car count for the Fastrak car?

I know of at least one Fastrak car that couldn't make it to the 5/13 Race but would like to enter the 5/20 make-up race. Does anybody know if the make-up race is barred to new entrants and the starting field is locked-in?

Without a crystal ball, it would be difficult to say which Fastrak Late Model cars will make it back for the 5/20 make-up race. Seems like maybe a 10 or 15 lap Last Chance consi would be in order to maybe prevent a less than stellar turn-out and help ensure a full field of cars. The reality of a make-up race is that .... lets say that you've already paid $300.00 in Fuel and Motel charges, $200.00 in Pit Fees and Entry Fees and you qualified 15th-24th through time trials and Heat Races .... and tow money is only $200.00.

How many teams will spend another $300.00 when they know up front that they will probably just be running for the $200.00 tow money? [That works out to an $800.00 investment for a $200.00 return] Risking a $20,000.00 race car for an even chance to Win $2,000.00 is one thing. Risking it all for a 15-24 starting spot might not be all that appealing to some Teams.

Does this mean no Supers on the 20th? I was looking forward to heading back up, but if the supers aren't going to run, I think I'll have to wait till the first Clash race.

Word has it that there are a couple of FASTRAK cars that have prior commitments for this weekend and will not be able to return for the FASTRAK race at Wythe this weekend. And supposedly Wythe Raceway is in talks with the management of FASTRAK about running another Last Chance Consolation race to allow cars that were not there this past weekend to try and race their way in to the race this weekend. This way there are as many cars entered as there originally was. Remember this is the word going around and if I hear something definate I'll let you all know. Also keep an eye out on www.wytheraceway.com (http://www.wytheraceway.com).

Here are the winners from 5/20/06 Fastrack race and the other classes. Now remember, my results are not official, just what I saw from the stands. Fastrack: 1st place #19 Bobby Mays. 2nd place #12 Brandon Umberger. 3rd place #22 Kenny Peeples. 4th place #44 Shannon Buckingham. 5th place #c12 Chris Carlson. It is my understanding that Bobby Mays was DQ'd which makes Brandon Umberger the winner. Don't know for sure so don't quote me on that. Other late model winners were: 1st place #94 Randy Taylor , 2nd place #15 __ Dobson, from NC (sorry ,can't remember 1st name) , 3rd place # 11g Travis Greer, 4th place #29 Tony Parks, 5th place # 03 Daniel Moss. Mini Stock was 1st place #63 Nicholas Cole, 2nd place #3 Doug Monday, 3rd place #20 John Carlin, 4th place #1 Gator Cornett, 5th place #17 don't have name. For mini/trucks race 1st place #b7, 2nd place #2 Randy Kincer, 3rd place #95 Kevin Atwell, 4th place #70 Luke Golding, 5th place #10 don't have name and 1st place truck was #28 Jimmy Buchanan.

#19 Mays was DQ for ported heads and band from any Fasttrack race or any track dealing with Fasttrack. moving Brandon up to first Kenny to second and so on.His heads had work done in the port holes.

Thanks dirtracing 2 for the info. Didn't know why the dq happened. Guess we won't be looking for the #19 at the next Fastrack @ Wythe then.

Yep, He had until today to turn over the intake and heads.if he didnt he is baned for life from any Fasttrack race our race track that is sponserd by Fasttrack. If he turned them over he is baned for one year and has to pay $1000 dollars to be renstated. It is a steep price to pay but it will deture others. It is good that FastTrack is policing this,it Helps to keep things from getting out of hand.
