On Saturday, April 22, Bobby came up with the idea of racing on sundays IF the races are rained out on Saturdays. This change will start with the Saturday April 29 race. If you have any opinions about this, whether pro or con, let Bobby know @ 336-427-0816. If you reply to it here, I can take the responses to him on Friday morning.

I will call the track tomorrow and find out what sort of times that he may be planning and post it tomorrow. I know also that a lot of people have to be at work, as well as school early on Mondays, so I will try to talk to Bobby about doing an early race schedule if racing is needed for Sundays.
Hope to see ya dad in the Winner's Circle soon Katy. I have talked to him several times out on the track this year, and he is one of the nicest people that anyone could ever want to meet

I am all for it,. as long as we start a couple hours earlier. like around 1 to 3 or something. I know my brother in laws would be for it also. If anyone is worried about missing race or a game on tv. well we have had vcrs in our homes since 1980 and dvd recorders the past few years..lol

NO NO NO!!!! DEAR GOD NO!!!!
Fist off... anyone that is complaining about tires....try a Sunday race @ 311... You will have NONE left, plus PROBABLY have to put another set on to even finish.
It is the biggest mess I have EVER seen when there is a day race @ 311. The track DOES NOT LIKE IT..... it's HORRIBLE!! I think that will be one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES THAT BOBBY JOHNS CAN MAKE!!!
Most verterans that have been at the track for a few years will agree....
DEAR GOD PLEASE NOOOO!!!

Can anyone say I need to sell some Goodyear tires that have been in a warehouse for years? Make a killing selling tires for a Sunday race. $$$$$

why not just water the track after the heat races or if it gets to dry then. it dont take 10 - 15 minutes to wet it.
And if its to what, we can all help roll it in some.

Boy you could make a killing selling tires on Sunday. Never seen a Sunday race when the track wasn't dry as a bone and terrible to race on. There is not enough water in the water hole to keep the track wet if it's sunny and about 80+ degrees.

What in the world? I've said for years that tracks should run Sunday if they get rained out Friday or Saturday. I get a job having to work every Sunday evening now everyone starts tossing the idea around. Figures!

So let me get this right. The track dry's out really fast in the day time. Going to be a lot of spin outs, worn tires and who knows what else. Sounds like a Saturday night to me. :)
I dont care either way. But maybe we can give a shot, and if the track cant be kept wet, and it is worse then Saturday night, then come back and make a decision. I like to relate things to past experiences also. But hey, if you had a steak that was cooked and prepaired for you and turned out to be the nastious piece of leather you ever ate, does that mean you never try steak again? Just a thought.

I'm with Sundi and Henry here. You guys DON'T want to race on a Sunday. Ray was right when he said all the water in the watering hole will not be enough. Every car that races will need to plan on scraping all four tires cause they will be burt slap off after the race! Been there, done that, and WON'T be doing that again! If some of the drivers want to try to make up Saturday races on Sundays, then make it a non points race cause it is just not fair to those running for points that don't have the $$$ to buy a new set of tires after that race.

Nothing is set in stone just yet. Bobby was thinking about doing the racing on Sundays if Saturdays were rained out because some fans AND teams have asked for it. Right now the idea is being tossed around, but if teams will not be there, then there is no need in having the races on Sunday. He was receptive to the idea of trying to do the races earlier on Sundays. I will let him know how people on this forum feel Friday morning when I get there to work this weekend. Glad to have everyone's opinion.
See Ya at the track,

Back in the old days almost every track raced Sundays, at least several times during the season. Back then they had no problem, everyone enjoied it. Why complian these days?

Im ALL for it!!!! :smiley_880: I wanna see racing no matter what day it is. No Sunday race is different from a Saturday race if you ask me and yes I have been to Sunday races and I liked it. I can see the drivers viewpoint though on the tires. I guess if they don't wanna run then they don't have to but im sure the majority would show up. The majority has showed up in the past....

Christine, LMAO......don't know why you'd want to go then...... I know Mickey won't race a day race either.....LOL....he don't want to foot that tire bill.
311 MIGHT have about 3 or 4 LLM's & LM's together on a day race. I know that most of the teams won't do it.

It's great to have everyone's input, both pro and con.
I for one like DIRT racing, but can't stand "DUST BOWL" racing. Before starting to go to dirt tacks, I worked on, and drove asphalt cars at several different tracks, and I know how much problem that we had with keeping tires on those,,,,,,,, 4 brand new tires every single week. I have never been to a day time race at 311, so I can't comment on how they have been. I am glad to see some of the people that have been there comment on them. One thing is definitely for sure and that is if the teams do not show up for daytime racing, the fans won't be there either. Small budget teams that race out of their pockets can't afford 4 tires every week

I talked to bobby today, and told him the concerns that some teams have about the possibility of Sunday racing. He listened, and told me that IF there was to be a Sunday race, that it would be closer to the current time, but maybe a little earlier. It won't be racing in the middle of the day. He is aware of the dust and tire issues.

If he is so aware of the dust and tire issues why wont he water the track? So he can sell more tires?:furious3:
