That makes the Bobby Johns 72 years old. He looks alot younger than that. I could be wrong, but there are 2 Bobby Johns that raced and the one in the links still lives in Florida.

Yes Bobby is 72 years old, b irthday was just a few weeks ago, and he did live in Florida. He now lives in the eastern part of North Carolina where he also has a business. He was orginally from Miami. I really hope that I look as young as Bobby and move around half as good as he does when I get 72

Then why did Benny Parsons say on his radio show that the Bobby Johns that owns 311 isn't the "real" Bobby Johns? Benny is a close personal friend of the "real" Bobby Johns and talks to him every other week and said he doesn't own any race track.

When I was a kid, my dad took me to the 1963 "Rebel 300" at Darlington. As it turned out, it was one very unique race in the history of NASCAR. It was divided into two 150 mile segments with "overall" winner being whoever had the best combined finish. In additin to this unusual twist, the second event started from a standing start, drag race fashion. They lined up the field along the starting line and dropped the green flag.

As best I recall, Joe Weatherly won the first segment (and was later declared the overall winner) and Richard Petty lead the entire second race. I was a huge Petty fan and remember that race in great detail! Anyway, I don't recall which race this occurred, but Bobby Johns driving a #7a '63 Pontiac, tangled with Fireball Roberts in the famous, purple, Holman-Moody #22 Ford, right in the middle of (the old) turns 1 & 2. Both cars did a lazy half spin but kept on going. It was not a spectaculr wreck by any standards, but, for some reason, it still stands out in my memory. Guess one has to be 9 years old to appreciate it.
