Saluda, VA – When your hot your hot. Eighth starting Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD used a third to first pass on lap 28 of the 35-lap Victory Lap Late Model feature to take his third victory of the 2005 season.

Lathroum started the night by breaking his own track record in “Hot Lap” qualifying with a lap of 19.510 seconds. He then inverted the top eight with the pill draw. That put Sommey Lacey and Larry Grimestead Jr. on the front row leading the field to green. Lacey won the drag race into turn one to take control of the opening laps.

By lap 12 lacey had a five-car length advantage over second place Billy Hubbard, with Lathroum in third. On lap 13 Lathroum took second form Hubbard with a pass on the high side out of turn four.

On lap 19 with lacey still leading, Jared Powell took second form Lathroum. The three made advances at each other until lap 28 when Lathroum powered his #6L Ford powered Mastersbilt to the outside of both Powell and Lacey. Lathroum then pulled away over the next six laps to take home his third win of the season and second in a row.

“I just drove it down in there as hard as I could and it stuck, it about wore me out but we’re here in victory lane,” commented Lathroum. “The high side is awesome right now and we have used it to our advantage,” added Lathroum.

When asked how he felt about getting to start no colder than eighth next time out due to his two wins in a row Lathroum stated, “Yeah, that’s a good thing to have to happen.”

Rounding out the top five were Sommey Lacey, Jared Powell, Ryan Hackett and Roland Mann. Jared Powell picked up the Thurston Spring Service Rookie of the race Award with his third place finish.

In other action Roger Jamerson of Glen Allen, VA took the lead from his third place starting position on the opening lap and never looked back as he led flag to flag to pick up his third win of the season on Truckin Thunder Night. In the Al’s Auto Parts Charger 25 lap feature John Imler of Edgewater, MD led flag to flag but had to hold off Charles Evelyn and Frank Addington in the closing laps to take home his second win of the season. In the Dixie Chopper All American 15 lap feature John Mosby of Doswell, VA started eighth and by lap 10 took the lead for his fifth win of the season and third in a row.

In the Truckin Thunder 30 lap feature Walker Arthur of Forest, VA set fast time for the eighth time out of nine races and inverted the top six drivers with the pill draw. That put Okey Synan, Jr. and john James Jr. on the front row. With the field barreling down into turn one Roger Jamerson jumped to the inside of Synan and muscled his way into the lead.

Synan would bring out the races first caution with a spin but would race back into the top five by the races end. Arthur tried several times to take the lead from Jameson only to be turned back each time. Jamerson motored to his third win of the season followed by Walker Arthur, Donnie Owens, Okey Synan, Jr. and Jerry Scott. Davis Lipscombe picked up the Thurston Spring Service Rookie of the race Award with a sixth place finish.

In the Al’s Auto Parts Charger 25 lap feature Charles Scott and John Imler started on the front row and led the field to green. Imler took control from the outside and started to pull away. Several cautions thinned the field of several championship contenders leaving Imler to deal with Charles Evelyn and Frank Addington in the closing laps. With two to go Evelyn wen inside of Imler as Addington went outside of Evelyn. Imler was able to hold off both challengers and take home the victory. Rounding out the top five were Evelyn, Addington, James Hawk and Mark Wright. James Hawk picked up the Thurston Spring Service Rookie of the race Award with his fourth place finish.

In the Dixie Chopper All American 15 lap feature Mark Childers and Bret Adkins led the field to green with Adkins taking the lead out of turn two. Adkins paced the field as John Mosby moved through the field from his eighth place starting position. By lap nine Mosby had caught Adkins and out of turn four took the lead for good. Mosby would then cruise to his fifth win and third in a row. Rounding out the top five were Bret Adkins, Marty Coltrain, Johnny Brooks and Vernon Kirby.
