Southside Speedway in Richmond, VA opens for the season this Friday April 7. The four division show features the Late Model Sportsmen (ie. limited late models), Grand Stocks, Street Stocks, and the return of the MACKA Champ Karts.

The MACKA (Mid-Atlantic Champ Kart Association) racing series features winged champ karts that can travel up to speeds of 70 mph. They race in big Daytona-style drafts and you never know who's going to win until the checkered flag falls. In the race I won there a couple of years ago, the top 4 were separated by a total of 8 feet. After 12 straight years of racing at Southside Speedway, the series was forced to take a two year absence but is now back.
On a personal note, I just made a deal tonight to get my kart out there this Friday. Since I can no longer race, I will be taking on the role of owner. My driver is a rookie but has alot of enthusiasm. So come on out and cheer on the #71! I don't expect to see him run up front the first few races, but I am happy to be part of the series and racing at Southside Speedway again.
