WALLS ROOFING UCAR CLASH TO VISIT CORBIN SPEEDWAY ON JUNE 5 $15000.00
The Walls Roofing UCAR Clash, a traveling series for four-cylinder, front-wheel drive cars headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., will be visiting Corbin Speedway this season for a special event scheduled for Saturday, June 5.
The event, with a 100-lap feature run in two 50-lap segments, and will pay $500 to start.
Larry P. Walls, director of the series, said the event will be known as The Walls Roofing UCAR Clash presented by the Some Gave All Rally and Eagle Falls Lodge.
“It’s a big name with a big purse guaranteed,” Walls said, “and our thanks go to Andy Delay and Charles Robinson for their help in putting this race on. Thanks also go to John Davis (owner and general manager of Corbin Speedway) for giving the UCAR Clash such a big event for 2010, and in the future for the Walls Roofing UCAR Clash.”
Walls added that all cars which do not make the starting lineup for the feature will be awarded “show” points.
The entry fee will be $100 per car, and all cars must pre-register and pay the fee in advance. Entries may be made on the UCAR Clash website, www.ucarclash.com. Registration will open in April, Walls said.
“This is a big race for us,” Davis reflected. “The rules of the Walls Roofing UCAR Clash closely parallel our Mitchell Foods Mini-Slammer Series, except that drivers of any age are allowed while we permit only 16-and-under drivers. The cars are pure stock, with stock tires.”
The series has a different weight rule, as well as a compression rule, Davis noted.
Interested competitors, he related, should check the UCAR Clash website for more information on rules.
Walls said the series was begun to provide a relatively low-cost entry level of competition, noting that a safe, competitive car can be built for $1,500.
“We have some young drivers in this series, too,” Walls said, “and we’ll welcome the participation of Corbin Speedway’s Mini-Slammer Series as well as any in the area who want to construct cars and take part.”
Additional information will be released as more details become available.
