LANCASTER, SC – When it was announced the National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) would hold its inaugural ‘NDRA Finals’ at Lancaster Speedway one driver was ‘licking his chops’.
Lancaster, SC’s Timbo Magum will enter the November 14th event only 20 points out of the lead. Magum cut his racing teeth at the lightning fast ½ mile and has extensive knowledge of the legendary oval.
“It could not happen at a better place for me,” said the popular driver. “I have been racing at Lancaster for about 14 years. It is a big fast race track and it should produce a heck of a race. They have had the track in great shape this season and there will be a lot of passing,” said Mangum.
A perennial crowd favorite, Magum will enter the event with the $10,000 championship prize will within his sights.
“I just want to get in there and win the race,” said Magum. “The points will fall as they may but all we can do is go and try to win the race. We have a lot of friends and family there and we are looking forward to racing in front of them.”
Leading the contingent into Lancaster Speedway will be Gray, GA’s Hunter Peacock. Peacock, fresh off his win in round one of the ‘NDRA Finals’ had a solid third place finish in his only trip to Lancaster this season in the ‘Johnny Arrants Memorial’ held in August.
He will need to be on his game to collect the $10,000 championship as many of North and South Carolina’s top GM Performance Late Model racers are expected to be on hand. The 40 lap affair will pay $2,500 to win.
“We have had a real up and down season,” said Magum. “We have won some races but we have had a lot of bad luck this season as well but that NDRA championship would sure cap it off.”
“I want to thank City Chevrolet, Baker Electric, Perry Laney Septic Tanks, Langley Collision, Knights Lawn Care, P&J Sales and Lamaceta Mexican Restaurant,” for all their support this season,” said Magum.
The NDRA is in its inaugural season and sanctions dirt tracks in NC, SC and VA. It was recently announced that the sanctioning body would continue its relationship with Goodyear Racing Tires into the future.
Also on the card for November 14th will be the Super Street, Pure Street, Crate Sportsman and Super Stock Four. The pit gate opens at 2:30 with grandstand gates opening at 3:30. The drivers meeting will be at 5:00 pm.
