Heard the check they wrote the RTM tour for their race a couple of weeks ago bounced and they will not respond. Kind of crazy you bounce a $3000 check to one of your main businesses a racing series but you can pay $35,000 for Bo Bice, wow you talking about not having priorities straight!

Bad deal if it's true, but this is hearsay.

No it is 100% true from the president of the RTM. He has a message on racerap for anybody from the track to contact him as they are not returning his calls.

Okay, I can accept that. Your original post started with "Heard" and to me that is the definition of hear-say. But now you've acknowledged the source and I'd say that's pretty credible.

As far as Racerap, I wouldn't know because I don't care for that site and never use it.

As for Racerap he was just trying to get their attention as they will not return phone calls.

Maybe they don't read Racerap either LOL.

I figured they were in trouble when the USCS pulled the plug on their second show that was scheduled in September. That didn't make sense to me because that was one of the better shows at Ace this year and the sprints always bring out people who normally don't go there.

If what I've read in the local paper about the current owner in Philadelphia is true, he has very deep pockets. There's no need for anyone to go unpaid. The problem is, he has no background in motorsports, doesn't understand the business and has no clue how to deal with it other than dismiss the staff every six months.

What this track needs is a complete overhaul that is given a 3-4 year timeframe before deeming it a success or failure.

Personally, I would tell NASCAR to take a hike. Don't know what they pay NASCAR every year to be a sanctioned track, but it's not worth it.

Next, I'd get rid of the LMSC and bring the PASS style super late models on board. Move the tracks race night to Saturday and that would allow the cars that run Wake County a new venue. People say the supers are now cheaper to run than the LMSC. If true, then some of the current LMSC drivers could transition.

I would keep the mods, except transition them to at least the SK format.

For those that still love LMSC, I'd book the UARA. I'd also look at booking the mod tours, the Carolina Focus Midgets, the USCS and of course the PASS.

This type of transition would not be the greatest for the first year, but should pick up the second year forward.

Lol they dont read racerap, answer the phone, write bad checks :Whip:
Also not sure about owner but imagine when you leave the track in the hands of the people he did and live several states away then things can get out of hand pretty easy.

Alkymadness, you bring up some very good points, and you are spot-on with most of them. The problem is the owner, I have dealt with the track very closely this year, been in the tower for every event, and gave suggestions when they asked that they have tried to follow up on. I talk with people from the track every week, and i still don't know the entire story on the ownership there, and neither do the people working there. It looks like the same thing that has been going on at Tri-County speedway, an absent owner does not work. The people at the track catch all the flak, when in reality, they are doing all they can, It's the people above them that are dropping the ball, but they are not there so I falls on deaf ears. It's not hard to figure out, first they had Wendy Way running it, she was absolutely great, and they ran her off. Then Doug Smith, while not the easiest person to deal with, he knew what he was doing, but they ran him off. Then it was Greg Davis, and he was very good at what he was hired to do, the best businessman they have had there, but the ideas he had cost money, and when they were presented to management, they didn't want to pay for it. You have to spend money to make money, simple as that. So in comes this Larry guy, who says he's a "partner", but he won't explain what that exactly means. The first time he spoke at the drivers meeting, whithin 30 seconds i could tell he has never stepped foot into a racetrack. And the decisions that have been made since then have echoed that. While some are good ideas, i have told them over and over, they need to fix the main product there, the racing, before they add all that gimmick crap, once the main draw is accomplished, THEN work on other things.

As far as the divisons there, I wouldn't change but a few things, The Late-Models are still the biggest draw in the area, Supers are getting more popular, but they aren't where they need to be quite yet to have a weekly division. Even though Ace only had 12-15 cars each week, it was the most entertaining racing of any of the local weekly tracks, Speedy, Rodney Cook, Robert Turner and Dustin Rumley put on a better show with those 4 than Motor Mile can with 30 cars. the mods ahave been a disaster, I say just do away with them, and replace them with some kind of Street-Stock division, plenty of Bowman Gray cars would come run. The touring series are always good there, and have some kind of promotions, ladies night, a demo derby maybe, kids get a free drink and hotdog every two weeks, something. But most importantly, pay the drivers. I have told them, drivers don't race for money, they race for a promise to get something, if you pay $500 for 6th or $50 for 6th, they will still come, but they had better be paid what is advertised without a hassel. I love the place but i am at the end of my rope promoting them, the more racers that don't get paid the less I want to be there, and the sad thing is that the track is one of the best in the country, but other people are killing It's reputation, it angers me. Some things may be in the works for a big money race, but with the continued bad news after I am assured everything is fine, I'll believe it when I see it.
The ball is in their court, they need the racers more than the racers need them.

Supposedly the "Three CEOs" paid the sprint cars half in cash and half in check for the race earlier this season, then stopped payment on the check. Don't know if it was to keep it from bouncing or just because they didn't like the folks that run that series (trust me, that could very well be the reason too). Regardless, I'd bet the first visit to Ace this season was the reason that they didn't come back for a second.

I've been around that place for many, many years and this is by far the worst spot I've seen it in. This is gonna be HARD to get straightened out.

ACE WAS THE PLACE. I LOVE TO HEAR ALL THE BAD STUFF ABOUT ACE AND HOPE I HEAR THAT THEY ARE CLOSING DOWN. OR THEY COULD GO BACK TO DIRT AND HIRE GENE ROBERTSON AND RANDY JOYCE TO RUN THE PLACE. THEN IT WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE IN TOWN. CARS MAKE THE RACE AND FANS MAKE THE PLACE. YOU HAVE NEITHER ONE SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU. MOST DIRT TRACKS DID REALLY GOOD EVEN IN THE BAD ECONOMY.

That is ridiculous. You are no race fan if you are hoping a track fails. You need to rethink this idea, as tracks across the county close the doors. I don't care for ACE personally, but some people do, and to hope the place fails crosses a line in my opinion. And Dirt will not save the place.

Word on the karting website says word on the street has it Ace was sold, and the phone number disconnected. Again, just a rumor, but has anyone heard anything about it?

TurnThree

I don't doubt the phone being disconnected, but it's probably not because the place has been sold. It's probably because of the old fashioned reason, non payment of the phone bill.

The place continues to get beat up by all the nonsense going on there. Yesterday they "postponed" the rules meetings scheduled for this Saturday amid continued complaints about drivers not getting their winnings, no banquet being scheduled, the possibility of losing their NASCAR sanction, threats of "FOX8 on Your Side" being called to investigate, and on and on.

It's a BAD, BAD situation. :07Sucks::07Sucks:

I will say as I started this subject about ace bouncing a check. Also should state the track did pay the RTM tour their purse a couple of weeks ago. I think maybe RTM racing the same weekend as the Bo Bice deal was why that happened. I do hope the track gets things going in the right direction as it is a nice facility.
