The Super Street, INEX Legends, Pro 6 and Enduro classes will wrap up their '09 points seasons on Saturday night. Let's take a look at the division leaders and what they'll need to do to secure championships:
. Randy Sample carries a fairly comfortable 36-point edge, 554-518, over Jonathan Mullett into this weekend's Super Street points finale. With one win and six runner-up finishes to his credit, Sample owns the tiebreaker advantage and can clinch the title by finishing 19th or better.
. In the INEX Legends division, Steve Keesee holds a 30-point margin, 512-482, over Jamie Price. Keesee enjoys a 3-1 edge in race wins, the first tiebreaker, and will seal the '09 crown by finishing 16th or better.
. Wayne Groome is clinging to a tenuous, four-point lead, 222-218, over Mike Ganoe as the Enduros return from a two-month layoff for their points finale. With three race wins, Ganoe has the tiebreaker in his hip pocket. Even so, Groome can claim the title with a runner-up finish on Saturday.
. In the Pro 6 division, eight-time race winner Casey Sipe has already clinched the '09 championship. Heading into Saturday's points wind-up, he holds an insurmountable 76-point lead over Lindsay Bryant.
. . .
Langley Speedway's 2009 points season comes to an end on Saturday, Oct. 10, with a six-race feature slate. The lineup includes: Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars, B&C Seafood Modifieds, Old Point National Bank Grand Stocks, Med Express Urgent Care Super Trucks, EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs and Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts.
