David Pettyjohn made an electrifying move on the first lap of the Super Late Model feature to take the lead and then powered to his third win of the season.
David Hill started on the pole with Pettyjohn on the outside of the second row. On the first lap, Hill led down the back straight but Pettyjohn never lifted going into the third turn and rim rode around the top of the turn to take the lead.
A series of incidents on the next three laps involved many top drivers including Ross Robinson, Kerry King, Ray Davis, Jr., Staci Warrington, Richard Jarvis Jr., Mark Pettyjohn and Barry Beauchamp.
David Pettyjohn was smooth on every restart and Hill was able to keep him in sight. Hall Browning made a good charge coming from sixth to third by lap six.
Pettyjohn had built a 1.26 second lead when the final yellow came out on lap 13. Again he would power away at the drop of the green with Hill giving chase. Pettyjohn would make no mistakes as he drove his J.W. Scott/Terra Firma of Delmarva/Rocket to his third win of 2009. Hill finished in second with Browning third. Fourth went to Javis who came from the rear of the field and Davis did likewise to finish in fifth. Heats were won by David Pettyjohn and Donald Lingo, Jr.
