:Whip:WELCOME BACK MY FRIENDS TO THE SHOW THAT NEVER ENDS COME INSIDE COME INSIDE it is time to turn left and a little turn right at September 6- Virginia International Raceway Road Course
Press Release- VIR
UCAR Series Compact Stock Cars Experience First Road Race at VIR
Danville, VA (August 27, 2009) – The Walls Roofing UCAR Clash compact stock car series is bringing their front-drive racers to VIR’s Patriot Course on September 6 for the series’ first-ever road race.
More accustomed to short ovals and dirt tracks, the UCAR Clash pits front-drive, four-cylinder cars in sprint races with lots of excitement for fans and drivers alike. These little cars run on street tires, resulting in lots of sliding around instead of the slotcar handling sports cars exhibit.
“For a fun day at the track, this race probably can’t be beat,” said track general manager Josh Life. “We have hosted other oval track groups on the Patriot Course and they have all enjoyed the challenge.”
Series promoter Larry Walls echoed that sentiment: “every one of the drivers I talk with is eager to try road racing,” he stated. “I think they see the challenge that NASCAR drivers meet at their road races and want to prove that they can change directions too.”
The day’s action includes a ‘Driver Ed’ by the Porsche Club of America, so there’s plenty to watch on the Full Course all day.
Spectators are welcome at both events. Tickets for the day are available at the gate. UCAR practice starts at noon, with the feature race scheduled for a 2:45 start after practice and the heat races.
Tickets for VIR’s spectator events are available on-line at www.virclub.com (http://www.virclub.com), just click on “Buy Tickets” at the track’s home page.
