UCAR Four-Cylinder Stock Cars Coming to VIR Sep 6
http://origin.ih.constantcontact.com/fs056/1101750598426/img/36.jpg?a=1102678208684Danville, VA (August 21, 2009) - The four-cylinder compact stock car series of the Walls Roofing UCAR Clash bring their unique brand of racing excitement to VIR's Patriot Course on Sunday, September 6 for a 25-lap feature race.

"Everywhere I go, people are telling me that they'll be there," said series promoter Larry Walls. "This is a good points race for them and I'm excited too," he added, describing the racers' attitudes. Though few of the racers in this series have road course experience, that doesn't mean they aren't going to be good at it. When ARCA's Lincoln Welders Truck Series visited the Patriot Course a few years ago, the drivers were universally enthusiastic at the chance to do something different, even though road racing was totally alien to their machines' set up.

The Labor Day weekend race is something different for track and racers alike. Most of the races in the UCAR series are on short paved ovals, with a handful on dirt tracks, making this one of the few series to race on dirt, paved and road courses.

Spectator tickets are available at the gate. VIR's track gates will open to spectators Sunday morning, with practice and heats slated to begin at noon, heats at 1:00 and the feature 25-lap race to start at 2:45.

"We're expecting what may be the biggest entry we've had all year," says Walls. "The excitement is really growing with the racers, so this should be a great race."

"VIR has always welcomed new groups," said track general manager Josh Lief. "We hope that the UCAR Clash will become one of our regular races and introduce stock car drivers and fans to road racing. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Mr. Walls and the UCAR racers."

Porsches from Potomac Region, Porsche Club of America are on VIR's 3.27 mile Full Course for a 'Driver Ed' event, making a Labor Day double-header.

Tickets for VIR's spectator events are available on-line at www.virclub.com, just click on "Buy Tickets" at the track's home page.

VIRginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road racing facility, located on the Dan River between Danville and South Boston, Virginia. VIR hosts a wide range of professional and amateur auto and motorcycle racing and track events, and is well established as "America's Motorsport Resort.
