:wow3_nbs:They raced side by side, they rubbed and they even split lapped cars
three wide. Most importantly, a pair of teammates proved good hard
racing is clean racing Saturday night during the Walls' Roofing UCAR
Clash for Cash series second visit to Fayetteville Motor Speedway.
Points leader Keith Brame Jr. collected his record fourth Clash
series race of the season, but it wasn't an easy win for the
Gibsonville native.
Brame passed leader and teammate Ben Walker on a restart with three
laps remaining in the 25-lap feature event. The two Honda Preludes
swapped the lead at least four times during the race, sometimes
running lap after lap only inches apart. The two each won a heat race
earlier in the evening.
Renno Marchetti IV, of Virginia, collected a strong third-place
finish, at one point gaining ground on the two leaders late in the
race. Marchetti's finish, plus a late-race spin by contender Shane
Phillips, should help secure his second place standing in the series
points race.
Fourth place on the night went to Drew Starling, one of his strongest
ever UCAR Clash finishes. Mike Chapman, another Virginia asphalt
specialist, rounded out the top five in only his second ever dirt start.
Sixth place went to Austin Dodge, Seventh went to David Wiggins,
Michael Strickland was eighth, Travis Taylor was ninth and Shane
Phillips rounded out the lead lap cars in the 14-car field.
Next, the UCAR Clash series visits Virginia International Raceway for
the division's first ever race on a road course.
