by Larry LongFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Fayetteville Motor Speedway will kick off its 36th season of racing with a pair of practice dates March 18 and 25th for all classes starting at 1 pm both Saturdays and the annual best of show for all classes will be held after the March 25 practice sessions with trophies awarded in all classes. The 2006 season opener will be April 1 for all classes on the program this season which will include the Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Open Wheel Mods, Super Street, Pure Stock along with the Modified 4’s and Enduro cars. The Modified 4’s and Enduro classes will run every other week on the program. The first point races will be on April 15th. Racing on the 4/10 clay oval is set for every Saturday evening. The track has seen some upgrades with new clay in the turns and the scoring tower has been given a facelift as well. The season will have seven Carolina Clash shows with the first Clash event set for April 8 paying $4,000 to the winner and the season will have a Big Tractor Pull event this year set for May 26 and 27 and look for other shows as well to be booked in the upcoming weeks. Fayetteville Motor Speedway is located behind the Fayetteville Regional Airport on Doc Bennett Rd and all drivers and fans are welcome to the finest in dirt track action every Saturday evening starting April 1, 2006. The defending class champions will be Chris Blackwell in the Late Model class, Ricky Boahn in the Open Wheel Modified class, D.J. Tyndall in Super Street, Glenn Howard in Pure Stock, Bradley Shampee won last years Modified 4 crown at FMS. Look for a lot of drivers to move up a class this year and the new Limited Late Model Class should attract a lot of good drivers this season.
