July 10th - Lear Wins at Potomac
The Cline Construction Steel Block Bandits have yet to see a repeated winner in the Ernie D’s Enterprises Victory Lane in 2009. Kyle Lear, local driver at Potomac Speedway was the recipient of the $2000 pay day after leading most of the 40 lap feature. Lear started in the number two position but found himself in the lead after 3 laps and never looked back. Giving chase for most of the race was Bruce Kane in the #1K and Tommy Wagner in the #4. However, no one expected the current Steel Block Bandits point leader Kris Looney to battle his way through the field and give chase to the 151. Lear, Kane and Wagner repeatedly held their cars to the bottom as Looney had his car hooked up on the top side. By lap 31 Looney had moved from 12th to 5th. Another strong car in the field was the #44 of Steve Long who had advanced 15 positions to take the Revolution Band Hard Charger Award and finished in the 6th position. On lap 35 Looney had taken the 3rd position from Wagner as Lear continued to lead with Bruce Kane holding onto second. With the white flag waving Looney once again took to the high side in turns 3 & 4 and passed Kane for second but could not catch Lear. Looney received the move of the race sponsored by Muddslinger Web Services on lap 39.
