Bo Feathers Wins at Winchester [Archive]

The Steel Block Bandits saw Walker Arthur and Jared Powell from the front row, as a strong field of Limited Lates looked to put on a good show.

Bo Feathers, who has had a rough year in 2009 slotted in third, and when the field took the green it was Feathers who got it going from the get go. Feathers on the first lap would dispatch both Walker Arthur and then Jared Powell to burst into the lead by the time the field would cross the stripe for the first time.

Feathers looked like an unbeatable man early on, but off of four on the fifteenth circuit while lapping cars things got awful tight, with lapped traffic closing in on all directions and Feathers narrowly missing trouble that ended with Scott Sweeney up against the inside of the track entering one, bringing out the third caution.

When the green came out again, Feathers would pull away, but before the caution came out on lap 27 one thing was becoming clear, Walker Arthur was a man on a mission as he was eating into Feathers advantage.

A quick caution on the restart would be the final caution, and when the field got the green for the final time with just 14 to go, an epic duel seemed to be on its way.

With Arthur holding onto the bottom like a catfish the second place man began to peek under the leading Feathers machine, but off the corner Feathers would again pull ahead, lap by lap went by with Arthur closing in as the pair entered the corner and Feathers pulling away coming off.

Arthur began to fade in the closing laps though as Feathers would pull away. At the end it was Bo Feathers securing his first win at Winchester this season, and his first overall win of the season.

Walker Arthur’s strong run secured second spot, Ronnie DeHaven, Jr. had a strong run and came from tenth to finish third passing Jared Powell late to secure the podiu m position, Jeff Sweeney would round out the top five.

Stevie Long, Kristian Looney, Jon Painter, Kris Eaton, Trever Feathers rounded out the top ten.

Heats for the 27 cars went to Walker Arthur, Jared Powell, and Bo Feathers.

The B-Main would go to Scott Sweeney.
