Newberrytown, PA (April 25, 2009) – In only his third start of the his first full season of Late Model racing, East Berlin’s Scott Fisher picked up the 20-lap feature victory at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. Craig Morgan of Halifax also made his way to vicory lane winning the 20-lap Street Stock main feature event. Spring Grove’s Mike Zeigler Jr. three race win streak ended as Lancaster’s Ray Broderick won an exciting 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. Dover’s Curtis Shue was victorious in the XSC Rookie Rumble. Frank Polimeda of Fort Lee (NJ) collected the 15-lap Legends Cars main event. New Oxford’s Roy Denike won the inaugural Road Warrior feature event.

From the front row, Carl Graves grabbed the early lead over Scott Fisher in the 20-lap Late Model feature. During the first eight lap (after six caution flag periods), Fisher was able to take the lead from Graves on lap six. From the eighth lap, the feature continued non-stop with Graves and Pat Beard searching the entire track for the right time to take the lead back, but Fisher’s steady line held off all challenges from the two veteran Late Model drivers. The 23-year old Fisher was surrounded by a large crowd of family and friends in an electric victory lane. Beard finished second over Graves. Charles Potts found the groove in the late stages of the race to finish fourth of Billy Wampler in fifth. Qualifying heat races were won by Steve Bailor and Bud Witmer.

Craig Morgan of Halifax was flawless in his first race of the season as he wired the Street Stock class to win the 20-lap feature. Starting from the pole, Morgan showed “no rust” as he held off challenges the entire race from a hard charging Doug Bennett and Scott Thunberg. Bennett and Thunberg finished second and third respectively with Eric Walker and George Eash rounding out the top five. With the Street Stock racing action always close from the front to back, an unusual flaring of tempers occurred in the pits after the race. Unseasonally warm temperatures may have been a contributing factor to this rare situation with this class. Jim Palm Hr. and Morgan won their respective qualifying heat races.

The nearly non-stop 20-lap Xtreme Stocks feature had its weekly exciting wheel-to-wheel action throughout the event with Mike Zeigler Jr. looking to pick up his fourth straight win. Zeigler looked poise to accomplish the task from a third place starting spot. On the initial start, Ziegler collided with Dave Kamp and the two stopped in turn 2, sending both cars to the rear of the field. Polesitter Travis Horan took the early lead with Ray Broderick taking command on lap four. That lead was short-lived as Sam Rial made his way to the top spot two laps later. As the feature continued lap after lap under green, Rial slowly extended his lead every lap. On lap 16, the nearly four second advantage was wiped away. On the restart, Rial and Broderick battled door-to-door with Broderick taking the lead on lap 18. Broderick held on for the win over Rial with Horan in third. Adam Smith and Tommy Slanker ran strong to finish fourth and fifth. Broderick, Smith and Ron vance won the XSC qualifying heat races. Curtis Shue won the 15-lap XSC Rookie Rumble event.

The 15-lap Legends Cars feature began with a seven car pileup in the second turn on the first lap. After the wreckage was cleared, Frank Polimeda grabbed the lead over Lucas Montgomery. Rival driver, Jason Rochelle moved into second behind Polimeda on the seventh circuit to set up another epic battle between the two competitors. With three laps to go, Rochelle developed some sort of mechanical failure and began to fall back into the pack. Polimeda went on the claim the victory over Tom Mayberry and Lucas Montgomery. Scott Houdeshell and Stephen Nederostek rounded out the top five. Tom Mayberry, Houdeshell and Rochelle were heat race victors.

The 10-lap Road Warrior feature event was won by Roy Denike over Travis Beck and Jim Jacobs.
