Rain covered most of northern Virginia Saturday morning, but when the skies finally cleared early afternoon, Calvin Davis and staff prepared to run there second race of the year.
The crowd present was witness to the best racing so far of the young season. At the end of the evening Tommy Armel of Winchester, VA would score his first Late Model win of the season, Kris Holliday of Wardensville, WV would take his career first in the Limited Late division, Mike Bennett of Winchester, VA wouldtake his first Pure Stock win of the season, Chuck Johnson of Front Royal,VA would take his second consecutive win of the season in the Four Cylinder class, and Kurt Welsh would take the Classic Racing Series event.
Wes Bonebrake of Hagerstown, MD jumped to the lead over Brad Omps on the first lap of the Late Model feature. Gerald Davis of Delray, WV moved into the second spot passing Omps for the position soon after.
Bonebrake held the adv antage when the only caution of the event came out on the twelth lap. Allowing Davis to close in on Bonebrake’s massive advantage, at the green Bonebrake again would not be headed.
Bonebrake took the checkered and won the opener for the Late Models, Davis would follow in second with Tommy Armel, Kris Eaton, and Shane Coffey rounded out the top five.
