This 1950 aerial photo of the old Concord Speedway was apparently taken with a race in progress! Close examintation reveals cars in the infield, the parking lot, cars on the track, and fans in the stands.......

Man, that looks bigger than 1/2m. I bet it was a dust bowl back in the day.

In the summer we would go to the infield and sit IN the truck and watch. At the end of the night there would be dust laying 1/4-3/8'' deep on the hood. It was that baby powder fine dust.

This is the 2nd Concord Speedway. the current Concord track is the 3rd generation. If you count paving and recofiguring its really Gen 5.

Concord #1 was at the end of Old Speedway Rd on the left, a house now sits in the infield.:hide_390:
