:check_flag2: "The Old Track Today" :check_flag2:
I passed by the old track today
and my thoughts went back to yesterday
Just a chain link fence and some tall grass grow
in the spot where dreams came true.
Listen. Can you hear the engines as they crank, and smell that racing fuel?
Can you hear the crowd as they get real loud?
They are calling out for their favorite drivers.
Close your eyes and travel back with me a way
to a more simple time and a carefree day.
We worked all week, plotted, planned and schemed
to win that race was what we dreamed.
Then once at the track, we’d climb in the car, and not look back. The adrenaline would flow, the fans would yell.
We’d take the green flag, and drive like hell.
Bumps and bangs, ruts and holes, and around we’d go,
Thrills and spills as we put on the show!
Silence now.
All that is left is the memory.
To everything there is a season.
And ours was good for a reason.
