Located on "Providence Church Road" near Henry, VA Log Cabin Raceway looks ok in the older photo........but it' really gone down-hill in the current one (which isn't very clear). The dirt track featured an infield access tunnel and has recently been 'for sale'. Don't know about its present status.....

this was a nice place to watch a race when i was a kid...back up in da hills though....

was there for the first ever super nationals 82..in sept..paying a record 120.000.purse at the time.35.000 to the winner..20 yr.old donnie moran..just turned 20 that week.moran muscled his way past rodney combs in his j.d. stacy firebird.with 2 laps to go to win.mike duvall the flintstone flyer was 3rd.great racing at a great track.:icon_beerchug:

i sure enjoyed going to the place anybody remember how cold it was there in 83 at the nationals when moran made it two in row and the 6 cylinder that bursted into fireball man that was something to see the whole car was covered in fire but fortunately the driver was fine sure liked that place wish it had stayed open.

It looks like it once was a great track. It is sad to see tracks go downhill like that. They also said that it was for sale. I wonder for how much? I may do some research on that!

If i remember correctly.. David Taylor set the track record in the mid 80's for the 6 cyl class. and it was never broken.... "Slim"..Cecil D use to tell about some COLD temps at that place when racing.....

thank's to penn for the pics always wondered what the place looked like now i knew it would be all grown up but i didn't think it would be that bad amazing pictures but also sad.
