Well lets see what I found out the property that the Ghost on the left sits on is ownwd by........The Dunn American Legion and the one thats is on the right, now a pond and
partially under I-95 is owned by Core Enterprises. Now I have infor of a Dunn Legion Speedway that ran from 1949-71. If there were multipule tracks don't know yet.

I found this 1953 deed where the Legion bought the property from Paul G. & Ruth White. Still trying to figure out how to access the map books. Also I would say 95 percent chance that the pond ghost never was a track...most likely it was created to build the overpass just to the North where Jonesboro Rd crosses I-95.

Dunn Speedway was the American Legion owned property. The pond behind the track was used to water the dirt.
The Tart Bros. used to race at this track and their shop is less than a mile away. If I'm not mistaken there are pictures of them racing here. Also, I had a picture of Sherrell Tyndall racing here in the 1970s, Courtesy Teddy Miller of the Tart Bros. racing team but I'm not sure I still have a copy of it.
According to Farmer John Matthews, who won many races at this track (I have the Dunn Daily Record Articles to back up his claim) there was a hellacious fight one night in the front stretch and in the grandstands. He said he drove his car to the backstretch to avoid the chaos!

I've been to the site. As of two years ago, knock over some trees and put down some clay and you could go racing (ok maybe you need walls, bleechers and lights too!) The place is easily accessible from behind the American Legion building, but watch out for the bulls in the field!
