I was at the metrolina speedway yesterday and seen a sign that it was for sale

I went by there a couple of weeks ago and the place needs at least $250k worth of work, but the big hurdle is going to be CITY HALL!!!

Kinda looks like Dirt Darlington one end with a tight corner and the other kinda longer. looks like it would be a blast.

Wow to race there it would be great, being that there is a whole lot of history at the track with drivers like Ralph and Dale Earnhardt who raced on that very same track. Even to race at Sumter last year felt really cool with all the history behind that track as well.

The best show I saw at Metrolina was a 6 cylinder wedge show...Freddie Query wore them boys OUT!!!!!!

This is a wicked fast track, in the early 90's my folks an some friends promoted this track for a few years. I was lucky enough to be able to work the back gate checking tickets an letting haulers across the track. Saw some good races, they were also the first track to bring the WoO to the carolina's. I would love to see it re open, i know back then the folks played hell with the sound police an locals.....i dont see it running local nights anymore maybe just specials........ but if anyone could it would be Humpy, also 2-3 years ago tony stewert was looking at re opening it....... they even had a website up. Maybe a stewie wheeler project, get everham on board? Wow could really bring back the local charlotte dirt scene...... think i will start building a car now!! After all Big E got his first ever win there!!!

Directions: I-77N to Sunset Rd East. go East 1/2m turn Left on Statesville Rd, go 3/4m North, Turn right in driveway to Metrolina Expo. Stay to the left of buildings, go str8 until you pass last stucture. Look to the right thats turn 4. You can drive to the end of the front straight before you have to turn away from the track.

Might have to drive back over there, just about 3 miles from the work place. Also GN driver Walter Ballards ex race shop now automotive shop is just down the street a mile or less......... Hutch Pagen is also near by. Always wanted that entrance to the grandstand sign, you can see the paint work we had done fading out to the old sign underneath....patina at its best. Lotta teenage memories there, the ex wife worked the pit ticket window (pictured) while carrying the first kid. My mom dying of cancer but still showing up every week to do the line ups on pit road........ driving the packer cars around the track. etc etc........ please re open!!! Like to take a checker flag in memory of my mom an all the work she did at the track!!!
