February 26, 2009 - Series Banquet Postponed
Unforseen Circumstances Force SMART Officials to Postpone Banquet
Stuarts Draft, VA - SMART Series officials found out this week that due to circumstances beyond our control with the venue chosen for the 2008 series banquet, we are forced to postpone the banquet to an undetermined date. We apologize to our drivers, their families, and fans for any inconvience this may have caused and are working hard to resolve this situation.
Though it is unknown where the event will be held, series director Chris Hammer is looking at some other venues and trying to get the event scheduled before racing season begins in the area. Tenetively the new banquet date would fall on either a Friday or Saturday night in the last week of March or the first week of April. If the banquet is forced back further the series will do everything they can to ensure our competitors can attend without missing points racs at their hometracks.
We are working hard to make 2009 bigger and better than 2008 and are frustrated with this unforseen setback. However, we are expecting a record number of drivers that plan on running the series for points as well as being welcomed by many track new and old. Stay tuned to http://smartracingseries.com for up to date announcement regarding the series.
