Biscoe Speedway

Alright here we go again djSnuffy and double 00...!! Here in NC,in Montgomery County,The town of Biscoe...Ok,on Hwy 24/27 going west from the old US 220 Hwy that runs north/south thru Biscoe. There was a old dirt track that ran several years ago and it was on the right going west on 24/27 toward the next town which is Troy,NC. Seems like it would be approx. 3 to 4 miles from the Hwy 220 and 24/27 intersection going west. Bobby,ever heard of it? Allright djSnuffy,see if ya can find it....!!!!! Thanks,Kenny:Doh:

Kenny... i remember it...lol.. right down the road from my uncles shop..... what i remember most was a race day that had go-karts not big cars...... and a guys helmet was painted like a water mellon.......lol.....

at least i think that was the place....lol...

Thats right Billy,they did turn it into a go-kart track..!! I ran up there a few times with my kart and thats how i knew about it. But it was a old car track at one time,but i never went to any races there. I just remember some of the local kart racers talking about it. Maybe someone else on here can tell us more about it...!!!

dj.. i want to say the track was little less than a 3/8th mile track...not sure....

Kenny.. remember the kart shop on 24 in Biscoe? it was right across the street from my uncles place... home, race shop and propane company......

Billy that would Eddie Roush . Fast Eddies Home of Daytona Karts. The Go kart track was close to Tex Powell shop . Did not run to long

Hi Billy,Yeah the kart shop right on 24 was Ronnie Glover's place.Is your uncle's place VanDerveer's gas company?

thats them.... Harold VanDerveer... was the owner... family just sold it last year.... My aunt still lives in the house on the corner.... UNcle passes away in the late 90's.... Die Hard FORD man... twice a year for the last few years of his life Bill Elliot use to call him..... Shankel (sp) here in ROCK use to do some of his motors.....

i remember staying with them in the summer time... riding all over NC.. from the mountians to the beach delivering propane.... then on weekends... race on friday and saturday... we were only allowed to go to the races if we got up at 6 am helped with the cows and chickens.. then to church... you could get out of the farm animals..but not church.....lol..

there is suposed to be a pic somewhere of me as a new born wrapped in blankets sleeping in a rim in the shop....lol...

Ok dj,let me try to tell ya.. Humm.!! From the town of Biscoe going west torward say Charlotte. It would have been maybe 4 or so miles out,going from the hwy 220 that passes thru Biscoe. And the track would have been right beside 24/27 hwy on the right hand side of the road itself. If you go to the next lil town which is 'Troy', then you have gone to far..!!! Whew..!!, I ain't worth a sh*t on giving directions, am i ??

OK... made a phone call... going out of Biscoe...toward Troy... on the right... hwy is still 4 lanes.. there is a small BBQ resturant on the right... behind it is where the track was...lol...

i'm loking for the BBQ place on the maps .. soon as i can pin point it i will let ya know....lol......but it was right on 24/27....maybe 2 or 3 miles from my uncles house/shop...

There is not much left though. I use to live in Biscoe and although I never went to a race there I use to hear the cars running there. JD McDuffie and Tom Usry each told me that they had ran there some years ago. I think Thomas Cox from Asheboro ran there as well. If I learn anymore about the place I will keep you posted.
