Here is one from way down east. Morehead City, 1/4 miler, operated in the 50s. Thats all the info that I can find. Who remembers this one?

I know there was a track in Morehead City, but don't know its name. James Hardie, who was also the promoter of Myrtle Beach's "Coastal Speedway" was the promoter of Morehead. From what little I know, the track was hwy 70E of Morhead, did not run for very long, and Wendell Scott ran there a time or two.
Also, there was another track in Elizabeth City, NC that was called "Sportsman Speedway". Could Sportsman Park and Sportsman be the same track with the cities mistaken.........Elizabeth City vs. Morehead City, as both are down east.

Found a possible a mile north of the old Drive-In movies that used to be on US 17, west of town. Traveling NW on CR 1309 its on the right in a field. What do you think? Was Sportsman Park a 1/4 or 1/2m track?

That could be it. There was a discussion recently on RacersReunion.com CHAT focusing on Elizabeth City's "Sportsman Speedway". I got the understanding that does not exist, now, but an unusual part of its history is that it was a Tuesday night track, and was successful for many seasons as such..............it's in the same neighborhood as Moyock's "Dog Track Speedway".
