Another track,Dunn speedway..!!!

Up from Fayetteville,going north up 301,in the'lil'town of Dunn,N.C. was a 1/4 mile dirt track on the left, right beside 301 that ran back in the 60's. Most of the Fayetteville race cars would go run there on Friday night then back to Fayetteville on saturday night.The man to beat was Chubby Thompkins driving for Jimmy Edwards in the #96,a 65 chevelle..!!! And the 'Best Looking' 65 chevelle was the #8 car of Pig Jones out of Fayetteville..!!! Anybody remember this track,and can add more infor.???

Oh lord, about all i remember is it was just off hwy 301 north going from Fayetteville or dang it,could actually be hwy I-95 north going from Fayetteville. But the track was on the left,right beside the highway.But we need to find out how many miles it is from Fayetteville to Dunn,Right?

You're right PRP,Ole Glen was actually my favorite.!! I just remember 'ole' Chubby winning a time or two at a Dunn race track when i went with "Pig Jones" to run his car in late model. Pig's car was red on the side with blue hood,top,and trunk.Also had 2 white strips painted down the hood,top,and trunk and carried #8 on the sides.(a 1965 Chevelle)We came up from Fayetteville and ran a few times at Dunn. But i don't recall it being "Dunn Fairgrounds Speedway" but it very well could have been...! Can you remember the Pig Jones ride??

Kenny , the earliest that I remember Pig Jones was at the Old Fayetteville Speedway in the Summer of '77 when he drove a White & Gold '65 Chevelle with a Red #8 , a High School Classmate introduced me to him as he was part of his pit crew Pig was a real nice person to know , that summer was pretty busy for me also I was selling Firestone & McCreary Racing Tires while getting started to work with Butch Lindley and helping Ervin Rigsbee some .

Ok PRP,Yeah the white and gold chevelle with the red 8's on the side was my creation of the colors..!!! I liked the way Red Farmer's cars were painted at the time, so i told Earlise (Pig),lets paint it that way.And,so we did!! Who did ya know on the pit crew,cause there was'nt but 3 of us that worked on the car? But Lord have mercy,let race day come and 25 people would come over to the race shop....!!!!!!
