It was a 5/8 mile race car track. My father, Harold P Thomas owned a 1938 and 40 fords that raced on it on Saturday nights. He also raced on a old track that was called "mountain view speedway" on Friday nights. That track is located right off I-85 at the Battle ground Rd. exit. It is behind that truck stop on the frontage rd. There are a lot of good memories in those days! Those tracks was active in the early 50s.

I forgot to put it in thread, it was 2 miles from Cowpens on the battle ground rd. SC 110. This was before I-85 was built. US 129 bypass used to be where I-85 is today. SC 110 and US 129 intersected as a "cross road". there was a stop sign for 110 when you came to US 129. Coming from Cowpens on SC 110 you come to a stop sign at US 129, Turn right onto US 129 heading north ( Charlotte) go about 1/2 mile and you would see the "Mountain view speedway" sign on the left side of road. This is the directions a person would follow in the 1950s.

There is a faint oval outline just behind/beside the truck stop. It measures about 1/4 mile but it could be larger.........not much to go by. First photo is from 1994. The second is from mid 2000's.
