It's coming up on a year now since I've gotten into the vintage race cars and have gotten to know enough folks around Central and Eastern NC and SC to explore the possibility of running some vintage exhibition racing. My poll question is: Would you go to a local race track with watching a vintage exhibition in mind?

I agree, parades are boring, what we'd like to do is more of controlled racing...these cars are not like the Southern Ground Pounders, ours chassis also vintage, there's probably stress points that can't be detected so in order to keep it reasonably safe and less risk to damaging other cars we'd want to have controlled racing, but NOT a parade. It's a show and nothing more, no points, no trophies, just entertainment, something folks can sit back and eat a hotdog and watch some old cars run a semi-race.

I think it would be one of the coolest events to happen around here in a while. JMO

I'm not sure, but I think he is asking, if it were advertised in with a reg. Fri or Sat show, would it convince you to go if you were not planning on it. I don't think he means a stand alone show, I could be wrong though.:wings_rofl:

That's exactly right Jerry, I wasn't clear about that.
~ In conjunction with the regular scheduled races we want to insert a 15 laps shoot out after qualifying, just something to entertain fans and give our cars some track time. -
My question is, knowing that there would be a vintage "side-show" along with regular Saturday night racing, would someone be more apt to go to the track because of the Vintage cars?
I'm really trying to get a feel for people in the stands....I KNOW the regular race drivers would like to see the old cars running but, what what would the fans care? A lot or, a little. And, the reason I'm asking is I would like to present the track promoter with more than a bunch of old cars, if they can profit from us coming out maybe we would get an invite.

Oh Yeeeaaahhhh,Drop the green.!! Really,my thinking is,there are a lot of people around here that have been going to the area dirt tracks (The old Fayetteville Speedway,Rockingham,Sanford,Leland,Harnett County,Old gosh,so many more!!! These race fans could relate to what would be called "Back in the day"When the Vintage cars would take to the track.! The race fans in the stands could really "re-live some good ole racing memories" looking at the cars on the track.!! I say 'Bring'em on boys, some of us old folks would love to see'em...! Nuff said..!!!!
