Plainly visible from areial maps.......the old Hemingway (SC) Raceway. This ghost track from the early '60's is plainly visible, including the cart track that was added in the late '70's. It's south of Hemingway, SC just off of Hwy 41-51 on Joy road.

Speaking of ghost tracks, I had seen this article in the local paper a couple years ago, so I went to looking for it again, and found it. Very interesting piece from a professor at Virginia Tech, I'd love to talk with this guy.

There's many aerial/satellite sites, but a very good one is simply Google MAPS, for those unfamilliar, just go to "Google" and click on "maps".......you'll have the option of road maps, aerial maps, and even street-level views (for some locations).......old race tracks are often easy to spot from the air......it's the next best thing to being there!

Hemingway (SC) Raceway, like most Carolina ghost tracks hey-day was early to mid '60's. Over the years, a kart track was added to the site, and is still visible in aerial photos. Like most of its counterparts, this ghost is quickly loosing the battle with mother Nature.
