Here's a very poor photo of the first look at the "new" old Mason's Garage Chevy driven by Carl Burris and Perk Brown. Am searching for a good sign painter now that won't drain my meager savings. Sorry for the picture, I haven't figured out my wifes camera yet.

You should know VA, it's gonna be painted after Mason's Garage, Bassett, VA. you homie's.
Stopped by Jack Smith's of Fayetteville on the way home. Jack use to run these cars and is a member of the FMS Hall of Fame. Great guy with 200 feature wins knows his way around the track and the BS circle. Jack's wife is not well so Ol' Jack and wife needs some thoughts and prayers sent their way. I told Jack he can take her for a spin and he's all about it, even in his 70's.

My friend what about using vinyl? I know it is not kosher but they did my car for $250.00 compared to a signguy wanting over $500.00. I figured with the vinyl I could see IF I liked it and then TRACE the outline and paint it myself (call me CHEAP)
Paint Looks great and I can sure remeber that car up at Trenton N.J.

Jim, it looks really cool. Did you get in any rain, on the way home? Hope not, but the 'clear' is fully catlyzed, and you're good to go. There's a sign painter that can handle the job, if all else fails in the Fay. area.

Funny thing is it didn't start to rain until I pulled into the neighborhood and had to make a mad dash to get her unloaded. I almost just back right inside the garage with the trailer but then realized the tires were inflated and there is not enough room to the door jam with inflated tires so just scrambled to get it off and then cranked up the heater to dry it off. It didn't leave any spots so it IS good clear cote.

Jim,I lost track of Earl Stone, he was the best sign painter around Fayetteville for a long time...You might try Duneland Signs in Hope Mills... He did alot of my cars before vinyl got popular... He was a little expensive but well worth it..............

OK, finally got my old camera working so won't have to wait for the film to get developed. Here's the new beast painted by a couple of pro's. :52th::202tb:
Bobby,
I painted the grill gloss black also, really blends it good with the front side panels.

The fella that built the car lives in Michigan and I haven't been able to get a hold of him. He just boxed a welded frame in and riveted sheet metal to it, I'm not metal worker but it looks rather simple.
Ever heard of VARC? These boys out of my old stopping grounds in the mid-west have some nice cars in their club. http://vintageamericanracecars.com/drivers.htm the "new masons' garage" chevy is the white coach at the bottom of the page.

Billy,
You must know Harold Smith then, use to help build the cars. Talked to him the other day to help me with the details. I seen a photo of Bobby Allison in victory lane with the Mason's coupe. My car will have the Carl Burris name on it. I've hired a sign painter, will paint it next Friday.
George, the Bill Simcox car is correct.

Car looks great an 100 times better!! The chroma clear 7900s, hmmm it smells as sweet as it lays down!! flows great, dries fast,an covers quick. Paint my daughters softball helmets with it,good stuff in fact down to my last quart. the best clear money can buy...the basecoats are easy spray also and cover well. Dupont aint cheap...but its worth it.
