I'm a ways away from Aiken myself. Have been doing some work on my own car getting ready for a new paint scheme in the Mason's Garage colors except it will be the #45 the Carl Burris drove at daytona 59 in the sportsman class.
Again, thanks for the link SlimShady...

In case you haven't seen Carolina Race Place, it's a great site.

That 's a great looking coach. I'm a ways from Aiken (on NC's southern coast), but be glad to help in any info/tech help. I could have done it quicker, but it took me almost 6 years to go from a junkard dog, to something recognizable. The "after" photo was taken at my grandpa's derelect oyster house, on the Shallotte river, about 4 miles upstream from Shallotte inlet and Atlantic ocean, unfrotunately, I'm not too close to Aiken............

I saw and DROOLED over the 300 at Darlington. Some VERY NICE WORK. 3wide is my normal haunt. I am a site sponsor LEATHERIQUE with them. My old home was New Jersey.
My big deal is that I need the front end off the car and the spindle welded and the axle made straight PLUS a new tie rod and brake caliper.
The other problem is that I am in the gun mode working on building a reloading bench and such.
Where can you play in SC? I have had the car for a year and have NOT driven it at ALL. Damage done by an 83 year old that was inducted in the Hall of Fame and offered to help DRIVE the car to the trailer. That was the problem.
The front end was 4 " to wide with the race rubber to fit between the wheel wells so I have loading rims and told him by hand signal to stop the car at the beaver tail well he panicked, hit the gas and guess what, by riping the left front off it fit!!
Damage to the trailer and the car is a bunch so that is the problem.

George, thanks for the compliments, wish we could have met at Darlington, maybe next time! I was looking through a "Speedway Motors" catalog and your front axle/spindle arrangement looks similar to those used on sprint cars. Speeway had a couple different configurations, but if that's the case, there's probably lots of used ones to be had........eBay, racing junk, etc.
A place to play with the old cars.........that's a real interesting question, and one that we should put our collective heads together.........a few meets per year at some dirt track...vintage racers for 'show' and a test and tune session. It could attract a crowd.
