Occoneechee is one of only two historic speedsway on the national register of historic sites. Guess what other speedway is on the register?
I'll be taking my 37` Chevy xXx sedan along with DoubleZero's 1936 #300 Earl Moss Plymouth Coupe, plus the Curtis Turner 55 Ford "Wild Hog" will be there as will many other vintage stock cars from museums and private owners.
Short notice? Yes! Worth the trip? Definately!:CAI30RID:

Sounds like a heck of a good time, the gas situation here in charlotte is at critical mass. 4 outta 5 stations are bone dry, and when one does get gas there is such a run on it the few thousand gallons they get is gone in hours. People are in line at stations "waiting" on a tanker truck to show up. Yes waiting at a station with no gas. One not trying to fall prey to the media and panic, i had no choice last night or i woulda been getting gas outta the lawn mower...... luckily i passed a station just as a tanker was pulling in ....got to be 6th in line, took an hour to get 10 gallons.........20-30 cars behind me as i left to scarf up the 2900 gallons the tanker dropped off. it looks like a parade as cars are following tanker trucks down the road to the gas stations........ its mad max road warrior stuff here. .....one woman with kids ran out of gas inline last night, said " she was waiting as long as should could hoping the situation would get better, ran out looking for stations with gas." ....people are gona have to stop buying gas for a few days so the stations can get restocked, most hold 20,000 gallons and tankers bring 9,000 per load.....but most stations are getting 3k per shipment......thats a few hundred cars....could be next week or later before back to normal.........i wanna see pics of the event. Staying home to be sure i got gas for work. "what did i just type, that aint even right."

That shoulda been a heck of a time. Hope the weather cleared up for you folks who went / participated.

Went to the Occoconeehee speedway show yesterday, took the car and had really good time. The 1960 Daytona 500 winner Marvin Panch stopped by as did the 1961 Nascar Champion Rex White. I met the daughters of Wendell Scott (first black driver) and Curtis Turner. Cotton Owens was there too with his 62` Dodge Polara that David Pearson drove, Cotton was the owner. Forgot my camera of course. Met a lot of neat people and made some new friends.
In case you've never been to one of the vintage race car shows it's not your typical hotrod car show, nothing's shiny and pretty, it's pretty much the older and more dented the better. So if you've never been to one, it's a cool thing to see and the company is always great to hang out with.

Hey PRP
The #8 Nova looks very accurate, great color match, a real classic piece of racing history. Would like to see the car run some laps at FMS if you know what I mean!!!
