Here's a classic vintage racer with a pedigree! It was from the shops of renowned car/owner/builder/ Marion C. Cox of Hemingway, SC. Mr. Marion's cars were always #50, as can be seen here. His driver list reads like a who's who of early NASCAR racing. Mr. Marion won the 1962 Daytona 250 modified-sportsman race with a young Cale Yarborough driving! Always very religous, Mr. Marion politley declined NASCAR/Ford factory backing in the '60's because most of the big races were on Sunday. This car would make a fantastic restoration, because of its pedigree. I understand that restoration is in its future. Let's hope so!

A Jack Walker photo of the Marion C. Cox Garage, Hemingway, SC late '60's. The Mercury Comet (#50 of course) was driven by Haskell Willingham at Columbia, SC, and the old NC Fairgrounds track at Raleigh. Today, Haskell Willingham is a USAR Hooters Pro Cup team owner. I recall Haskell once at the old Dublin Motor speedway driving a #11 NDRA-style Camaro.

Make sure your photos are jpeg or gif files, usually an option when saving to computer. If your using the advance reply below and the manage attachments and then browse for you photo file in jpeg format, it should load no problem. If it doesn't work take a 10 pound sledge hammer and whack the top and sides of your pc 5 times per side, this usually helps with unloading frustration. Glad to help.:icon_theduh:

Archie, how do you transfer your photos to your computer? Scanner? Camera? Your jpeg file option should get them small enough to load via the LRC browser.

Of course, Marion Cox was known around the garage as "Preacher" Cox for his refusal to race on Sunday, as mentioned in the original post. Here's a 1964 Daytona pit road shot with Mutt Powell at the wheel (courtesy of Florida Racing History website).

I remember hearing a story of a Sat nite race when one of Preacher's cars was leading the race and he waved his driver in at the stroke of midnite.
